4 Star Places To Visit in Ponca City, Oklahoma, United States (6)
4.5Marland Estate(183 reviews) - A Bit of Tuscany in northern Oklahoma Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Architectural Buildings
This marvelous museum tells the complete story of E.W, Marland, his loving marriages to two women, the second of whom was his first wife's niece and half his age-but they made it work. Lydie was a gracious First Lady, during E.W's term as Governor of Oklahoma. The image offered by this exquisite mansion is of two people who were passionately dedicated to detail, to being elegant hosts to a good many visitors and to making Oklahoma a good place to live.See more..
4.5Marland's Grand Home(71 reviews) - See this AFTER visiting the Marland mansion Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM History Museums
I’m glad we visited the Marland Grand Home the day AFTER touring the Mansion. This was the Marlands real home where they lived the longest and it feels welcoming. It’s a warm, beautiful and inviting house unlike the somewhat austere and showy mansion. The self guided tour here is very well done with excellent signage and many original artifacts. We spent a little over an hour touring the house and walking around the yard. This gracious home is well worth the time if you enjoy fascinating history and exquisite period homes. Highly recommend.See more..
4.0Pioneer Woman Museum(48 reviews) - A fascinating place Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monuments & Statues • History Museums
A fascinating place. A must see museum! . Great place for teenagers and adults. We visited in May 2020 so because of Covid 19 we did not get a guided tour. It was nice to go thru at our own pace.See more..
4.5Conoco Museum(44 reviews) - Super fun and interesting Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
I love an interactive museum and this one fills the bill with excellent exhibits, lots of fun historic artifacts and great photo opportunities next to cool gas pumps. We spent a little over an hour here and learned a lot about the interesting history of Conoco and its many great employees over the years. It’s an amazing business we knew little about before visiting. Be sure to catch the introductory video before walking through the museum. The young lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this museum when in the area. See more..
4.0Standing Bear Park and Museum(13 reviews) - Interesting little museum reflecting 5 tribes Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • Art Museums • History Museums
The statue of Standing Bear was pretty neat. You have to walk a paved trail to get there. The museum had several small rooms with different art for each tribe. One room told the story of Standing Bear and how he went to court to obtain rights for Indians who were not considered people. It was a touching story. The curator there took time to talk to us about Indian culture, which we were a little about. She was very helpful and answered all of our questions. It gave us a greater understanding of what native Americans have been through and what they are going through today. I’m glad we stopped in. The museum was free and took about an hour.See more..
4.5Sharp's Indian Store(2 reviews) - Best Store In Ponca City Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
Sharp's is a combination Indian Trading Post, pawn shop and Western clothing store. They have some antique Indian-made items and as well as newer Indian jewelry, ritual clothing adornments and other handiwork all made by the local tribes - Ponca, Tonkawa and Kaw. The local Native Americans shop here themselves for ritual items for their Pow Wow's and for supplues such as beads to make jewelry and ceremonial items. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. We bought several items. Ponca City is somewhat bereft on interesting shops, but Sharp's is a really fine store. They are open weekdays until 5:30pm and on Saturdays until 4:00pm. Closed Sundays.See more..
