    Arenas & Stadiums
    Dozer Park image
As we only spent one night, our purpose was to attend a game at Dozier park. Our experience at game was great. It being a Tuesday night, only about 1600 people there. We were fortunate enough to get tickets directly behind the Chief’s dugout. This was our 30th ball park in 5 years. Our usher Bob was the friendliest usher that we have ever met. We were really impressed by how many players would toss some balls up to kids. At most park, it’s like they are told not to but that was not the case here. The concession stands were above average with prices being reasonable and selection being good. The gift shop was well stocked including some MLB stuff. We enjoyed the game and the crowd around our area was enthusiastic. Sadly we did not visit any other places while in Peoria. See more..

  9. 4.0 Dan Fogelberg Memorial (24 reviews)
    - Touching- a neat place to visit when passing through
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
    Dan Fogelberg Memorial image
The park at Constitution Gardens is easy to find- I was a little concerned about my safety when driving through the immediate area but it's beautiful with wonderful views of the Illinois River/Lake Peoria. The Memorial is on the edge of the river and I was surprised to find two other groups that visited the park for the specific purpose of paying their respects to Dan Fogelberg. One group was singing "Part of the Plan" and it was touching. Something else you need to do- GPS to find Fogelberg Parkway. It's only a mile or so away. The high school at the corner of Monroe Street is where his father, the "Leader of the Band" was just that. Continue up the road where it becomes Frye Ave and intersects with Prospect Road. The convenience store at this intersection is where Dan ran into his ex girlfriend on Christmas Eve...... :) See more..

Spent < 1 hour Observation Decks & Towers
    Northmoor Observatory image
This is super fun. We went on a Saturday night and were able to look through the big telescope and see Saturn - rings and all! You have to walk through the golf course at night, so take a flashlight and make sure you have some easy walking shoes! It's not very accessible, as you walk through the grass to get to the observatory and it's a good little hike from the parking lot. Free, but they take donations. See more..
  14. 4.5 Peoria Players Theatre (11 reviews)
    - One Iconic Jam Session!
    Monday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Theaters
    Peoria Players Theatre image
Happy 100th Anniversary, Peoria Players Theatre! Million Dollar Quartet we saw yesterday proved that you are doing great. The show was well-directed by Mary Ellen Ulrich and professionally performed by the whole cast of dedicated actors. Singing and acting were strong, and the show was very well-received by the audience. And a deep, velvet voice of Jared Coker (Johny Cash), as well as an incredible energy and a very powerful stage presence of Tyler Skibinski (Jerry Lee Lewis) - all this made the whole show even more successful and the audience - of all ages - quite happy. Seriously, Tyler - you are totally awesome. Peoria Players Theatre is perfectly designed for these types of production. New seats (we were seated in the middle of Row 5) - so the seats were very comfortable, lighting and acoustics were excellent. Well done, Peoria Players! Keep on high-quality performances for the next centennial. Spectators will enjoy them and they will remember. Thank you very much! See more..

I still listen to Blessed Fulton Sheen talks and was really looking forward to the museum. I loved a recommend all who are a fan of him to visit cause he is someone to look up to. A true champion of virtue, and inspiring on how one can make a difference. The sisters gave us such a wonderful tour and we went to the Cathedral what a beautiful Church that gives you goosebumps walking in. The sisters have done an amazing job on a shoestring budget, which makes me happen to donate to the cause. You know they will stretch that dollar to the fullest. See more..
  17. 4.5 Pettengill Morron House Museum (7 reviews)
    - Lovely home with interesting history
    Monday: Historic Sites
    Pettengill Morron House Museum image
Thanks to a previous reviewer who mentioned this home is open for tours on Thursdays, I managed to see it when I passed through Peoria. The house is lovely and well preserved. It's rare to see an historic home filled with furnishings and possessions that actually belonged to the original owner. The family history is quite interesting. The tour guides made me feel like a welcome guest. They are very knowledgeable and good storytellers. I'm really glad I stopped by and took the tour. See more..
  18. 4.0 the Shopps at Grand Prairie (5 reviews)
    - The Shoppes
    Shopping Malls
the Shopps at Grand Prairie image
This open-air mall opened to public fifteen years ago, and it was very successful and attractive to both the local public and tourists. Located at the northern part of Peoria, it has variety of nice shops (from upscale to discount), ample parking , and it used to have several restaurants, until some of those moved out to other 'pastures'. This, and some other economic factors (online shopping, for one) influenced this mall. But now the mall is very busy, especially on weekends, stores offer nice deals (discounts, coupons, etc). Holiday season is just around the corner. The staff of the mall is usually very friendly and helpful. See more..

  20. 4.5 Peoria Public Library (2 reviews)
    - COMPREHENSIVE LIBRARY
    Libraries
This library offers a comprehensive collection of books, CDs,and DVDs. Their genealogy department is excellent and has a copy machine available as these books cannot be checked out. Staff is knowledgeable. There is plenty of parking in a metered lot adjacent to the library. The lower level offers books for sale at a very reasonable cost where I purchased many children's books for 10 cents a piece for our neighborhood's Little Free Library. Be careful after dark as this is in the downtown area of Peoria. See more..
