Lovely home with interesting history

Thanks to a previous reviewer who mentioned this home is open for tours on Thursdays, I managed to see it when I passed through Peoria. The house is lovely and well preserved. It's rare to see an historic home filled with furnishings and possessions that actually belonged to the original owner. The family history is quite interesting. The tour guides made me feel like a welcome guest. They are very knowledgeable and good storytellers. I'm really glad I stopped by and took the tour.

    Magnificent Historic Treasure
We were privileged to be able to tour this historic place today and I say that because it was not a tour day. The house manager Mary (awesome) happened to be at the home doing some out side painting. She graciously stopped what she was doing and welcomed us. The last owner Jean Morrow left this lovely home and all of its precious contents to the Peoria Historical Society when she died in 1966. It is lovenly managed by its members. Mary is very knowledgable regarding the history of the home and it's last owner. Every room had a story and we were enthralled! The mansion itself overlooks the town of Peoria and the river. Please mark this as a must see while visiting this lovely river town.

What a priceless gift from Ms Morron.
This house was donated to the Peoria Historical Society after Ms Morron passed. They open for tours on Thursdays. The volunteer staff do a wonderful job with the history of the Pettengills and Ms Morron. The preservation is wonderful. They do have a free (entry fee) gift shop with item of donations to the society.
