Nice hideaway
A Peoria Park District facility, Forest Park serves as the doorway to more than 500 acres designated as part of the Illinois State Nature Preserve. The center provides visitors with more than seven miles of trails that lead through dense forest, along trickling stream beds, and over dramatic hillsides. The A-frame trail head features a small natural history museum, nature store, and a room dedicated to bird-watching. Trails and museum are free and open to the public. NO PETS ALLOWED!

I love to hike here!
It is hard to believe but I was at the Grand Opening of Forrest Park. At that time I did not know how much I would love it in my retirement years. Great place to spend time with my son and grandchildren! Many fun memories of hikes with family and friends!

Definately close to nature, some trails for hiking in mature trees. FREE
Good nature center for young children. Nice shaded trails, that go on forever. Go as far or little as you like. Inside the Nature center is restrooms and a gift shop. Parking for about 25 cars. Picnic area that needs a lot of TLC, They need new tables and a bit of weeding done.
