Jake is by FAR the best guide I’ve had the pleasure of fishing with. I’ve fished all over the world and nothing compares to the fly out trip with Jake. Catching fish (limited out in an hour) was only the icing on the cake compared to scenery, bears, flight, and having Jake be your guide. I felt like I’ve know him for 20 years and we were long lost friends. If you have kids, he will make sure they have the time of their lives. If you are thinking about doing a fly out trip with Jake, quit thinking, book it now, and thank me later. Oh yeah, the only reason it took an hour to limit out was because I was taking pictures and video for 3/4 of it. See more..

We had such an amazing experience with Alaska West Air! We had a family of 5, none of which are avid fishers . We did a day tour - that including salmon fishing. The flight and the afternoon fishing was more than we could hope for. Our guide, Nick, was kind and excellent at helping us understand the area and the fishing. The flight over and back and what you see from a sea plane was worth the cost alone! As a bonus, we saw brown and black bears with our guide ensuring safety above all else. You can tell that Alaska West had built a great culture with their employees and that seems to have created something truly magical. We questioned the cost at first but having done it now - it was worth every penny. See more..

While on a motorcycle trip of Alaska I had time to explore the Kenai Peninsula and I decide to go off the beaten track and avoid other tourists and check this place out. It’s about a 35 minute ride from the Sterling Highway in Soldotna. You’ll pass by the industrial side of the peninsula including a fertilizer plant an oil refinery before it becomes a narrow two-lane highway through the woods along Cook Inlet. I hung out at the small picnic area that overlooks the beach. There are restrooms and a trail that leads down to the water. It seem to be popular place with the kids to burn off steam and it was just a nice pleasant view. It was relaxing place to be See more..
