Came to town to try Blacks BBQ (which was great) and decided to check out the square; to our surprise the farmers market was setup on the west side of the courthouse. We walked the square and enjoyed the views of the Courthouse. Our courthouse in Bonham Tx has recently been brought back to 1800 era and looks very similar. See more..

The Eugene Clark Library located in Lockhart Texas is the oldest continuous operating library in Texas. The picture you see is the Library that was donated to the city in 1899 by Dr Eugene Clark a local physician. It contains a Lyceum and stage where President Harding once spoke. He spiral staircase located inside going to the second story is unique. The second story is where to local book club meets and the furniture is original. Several years ago, in order to raise money for the library, the librarian went to the top and stayed there day and night until the funds were raised. You can read of her exploits in the book published called, "The Looney Librarian" This is now the adult library with the children's library located next door in another historical building. My husband and I visited this medium size antique store on a Thursday morning. It is not a fancy store but has some interesting antiques. I did not find anything I wanted to buy on this trip. The prices are decent. The parking lot is small but there is plenty of on-street parking. It is certainly worth a 10-20 minute stop. See more..

My husband and I found this beautiful church when we were antiquing in Lockhart. The church is 2 blocks from the square. We noticed there was an historical marker on the outside. The church is beautiful on the outside and has a pretty courthouse on the south side. I wanted to see the inside but the doors were locked. The church was built in 1899. See more..
