This is a favorite place of ours which is very close to where we reside! They manage to keep this place as pristine as one can expect to observe in a natural setting. They have craft events here and other workshops of which many people in this area support and attend. Simmons Library was the first permanent location of the Kenosha Public Library. It was donated by industrialist Zalmon Simmons to honor his son, Gilbert M. Simmons. Architect Daniel J. Burnham, the leader of design for the World's Columbian Exposition of Chicago in 1893, designed the 9,045-square-foot, neoclassical revival building. The Simmons Library opened on Memorial Day, 1900. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. For over 100 years, Kenosha Public Library has served the City and County of Kenosha. We are an inclusive, welcoming community that strengthens neighborhoods, inspires shared learning, and nurtures curiosity. Visited Petrifying Springs in Kenosha on a weekday in August and enjoyed a bike ride on the paved trail. The loop trail is about three miles long. Additionally, there is a connector trail (about two miles long) from the Beer Garden to the County Trail. The Park has numerous facilities for great family outings with many picnic areas and pavilions. The Petrifying Spring water was available at a tapping station at the parking lot across from the County Beer Garden, but there was no sign indicating that it is potable water!. I could not find the natural Petrifying Springs along the creek. The dog park at the Beer Garden appeared to be popular too. Petrifying Springs Park is a great place for a nice relaxing or exercising time. See more..

We have a summer home in Kenosha where our grandkids visit often. One of the favorite thing they like to do is to ride the street car around the city, that goes around the entire waterfronts of Kenosha for only one dollar. It comes often and the conductors are friendly to the kids. It stops just about every block and every city attractions. We love it and believe it is the city's most valuable asset for the people who come to enjoy the place. See more..

PROS: Free; ample parking; right by lake Michigan and the beach; has 2 lighthouses in close proximity with each other; kind docent ; small exhibit about the early days of Kenosha and a great exhibit featuring the Rambler and AMC car company; there are also an old time fire truck and bicycles ( the ones with the giant front wheel). It’s a relaxing 1 hour stop. CONS: We wished the lighthouse opened earlier in the year (we’re missing it by 2 weeks), otherwise it’s a great little museum. See more..

I stopped off here on my way back from lake Geneva not quite knowing what to expect . I’m glad I stopped . This area was very scenic . It has 2 lighthouses , an old streetcar line , a trolley , an old sail boat ride throughout the day , beautiful landscapes gardens along the entire area , nice walkways alongside the waterway , fishing areas . The fog was rolling off Lake Michigan and it was breezy and beautiful there was a lgbt fest and an arts and crafts fair going on in 2 separate areas . The walk along the sculptures is very relaxing and beautiful . The sculptures are well done and interesting & well maintained. This area is an easy walk to shops and restaurants. ...old stone lighthouse that stands tall and high close to the Kenosha Water-Tower, another city symbol. I wish it would have been open so I could've checked-out the museum inside, but it really doesn't matter does it? This lighthouse (as well as all other lighthouses) is just a temporary diversion in my life that probably will disappear like numerous other diversions have. This park is located between the Joseph McCarthy Transit Center and Kenosha's harbor. If you are just quickly visiting Kenosha to see the top sights, this is right in the middle of everything you'll be seeing anyway and is worth a stop. The main attraction is the fountain, which is not only large and impressive but incorporates a boulder from the Okinawa battlefield and sand from the D-Day beaches.
