Great park for a picnic

Visited Petrifying Springs in Kenosha on a weekday in August and enjoyed a bike ride on the paved trail. The loop trail is about three miles long. Additionally, there is a connector trail (about two miles long) from the Beer Garden to the County Trail. The Park has numerous facilities for great family outings with many picnic areas and pavilions. The Petrifying Spring water was available at a tapping station at the parking lot across from the County Beer Garden, but there was no sign indicating that it is potable water!. I could not find the natural Petrifying Springs along the creek. The dog park at the Beer Garden appeared to be popular too. Petrifying Springs Park is a great place for a nice relaxing or exercising time.

    Early Morning Hiking
What a gem! We were in Racine for the weekend and did a quick search of parks in the area. This is by far one of the best parks in the state! Saturday night they hosted a fun food truck family event right next to the biergarten. It was a lot of fun. They had events for kids, and live music. This was the perfect spot to enjoy one of the last summer nights. The next morning, we got up early and came back again. We had the whole park to ourselves while hiking around the property. While the trails within the woods were really magical, being so close to the road, it was a bit loud. Walking right along the water was really nice too. We saw two herons which was very cool! They have a lot of benches and great picnic areas throughout the whole park. The pavilions hosted a lot of parties the entire weekend, as well. All in all, it is clear they take care of this park really well. We are already planning on coming back for a day trip in the near future. If you are in the area, this park is definitely worth a stop!

A Beautiful Escape No Matter The Season
Unlike many parks that slip into hybernation come November, Petrifying Springs bustles with visitors almost year round. It is blessed with flat paved walking paths, streams and several outbuildings ideal for family picnics or just getting warm when the wind picks up. There are also several easy unpaved trails for those preferring a more natural experience. In the summer months there is a small golf course. Overall a very pleasant place to stop and rest up before heading back to your hectic life.
