- 5.0 Eco Reserva Mbatovi (21 reviews)
-Great Experience
Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
Awesome views pf the surrounding area. Cool forest creeks. Qualified, experienced, and friendly guides. Walk includes hanging bridges and a zipline over the forest tree tops. The place is approx. 75 km from the city of Asuncion and it will be best to go by car. They plan for about 3 hours but our group of seven did it comfortably in just over one. All the gear is provided, including water bottles. Just show up with some good hiking shoes and a camera and enjoy. Experience is not required, but good health and reasonable fitness are needed. Prior reservations are required and you will want to know Spanish or go with someone who can translate. Most of the clientele is from the region. See more..

- 4.5 Salto Cristal (22 reviews)
-Never have I seen this..
Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Waterfalls
Salto Cristal, unknown treasure in the wild. Untouched by humans. First I saw Salto Monday and the Cataratas de Iguazú, but when seeing this beauty, I stood still for a while with open mouth. To see them, you don't simply pay to get on a bus or follow a trail. You pay a farmer to park your car. He tells you the way, and you search it while you go. The waterfalls were all ours: no living soul around this high, but yet thin waterfall. This really is Paraguay: beautiful. It is adventurous, you shouldn't be afraid of heights of getting stuck with a van in the mud.. Just don't do it alone. See more..

-The beauty of natural and economic history (foundry & park with waterfall & butterflies)
Spent 1-2 hours Military Museums • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Military Bases & Facilities
Spent an amazing day at the foundry/iron works and walking the national park near the waterfalls on 22 April 2022 (Friday). Gorgeous weather. Only tourist about. With my guide and driver. A sad piece of history showing the economic development of Carlos Antonio Lopez that is destroyed by his son in the Paraguayan War. The grounds are pleasant though the road to them is poor when wet! Do see the park, too, but again the road to the waterfall is poor, esp. if wet. So don't do this on or immediately after a heavy day of rain. See more..
- 4.0 Parque Nacional Ybycui (22 reviews)
-Do not miss this National Park
National Parks
This is a rather small National Park (around 5,000 hectares), located only two and a-half hours from Asuncion by car. There are several waterfalls and trails. The park is safe as there are park guards. The vegetation is amazing. Near the waterfalls there are hundreds of butterflies of different colors. At the entrance of the Park you will find the ruins of La Rosada steel smelting/foundry, the first in South America, that was destroyed by the Brazilian forces during the terrible Triple Alliance War. There is a small but interesting museum. The entrance fee to the Park & Museum is less than $8 per vehicle. There are basic services available, but make sure to bring water and repellent, just in case. The road to the entrance of the park is paved. Very close to the entrance, there is a small convenience store where you can buy snacks and beverages. See more..
