What a wonderful view when you reach the top of this mountain. We (family of four with boys 8 & 11) did the climb in the middle of the day in less than 45 minutes. So it can all be done in around 1,5-2 hours. Remember water!!! It's NOT a big tourist attraction (thank God!) but there is a little shop where you can buy snacks and beverages. See more..

Absolutely must see in Hpa-an. Cave is huuuge and really beautiful. Don't forget to take your shoes with you, because you will come out from there by another way. At the end of the cave there will be boats which will take you through the lake. Cost of the boat is 4 thousand Kyats for the whole boat, but you can split cost with other visitors. See more..

All in the title. This sites offers a gorgeous view for sunset (although I believe it must also be very cool for sunrise). The pagoda itself is located in the heart of an artificial lake and sits on top of a prominent rock. There is an artificial island (where the pagoda and the rock are) with a monastery on it. You ll have to cross a little bridge to get there. The whole place is charming and pretty and relatively clean. Note that when you go on top of the pagoda photos are prohibited, the place is for prayers only. As usual you will be asked to take off your shoes. The best spot for the sunset is outside the artificial island. Just walk around the lake until you find the perfect place with the pagoda and the sun as a background and the lake as a foreground (it really shouldn't be hard ;)) and be ready to take so really nice photos. I'd you are lucky you will also get the ducks swimming on the lake adding this little plus to your photo. See more..

We went to this attraction on Makhabucha day ,full moon of march,where buddhist people aggregates for making merits to lord of buddha ,and making vegetarian food for free to public.it takes about 2 hours climbing upto Zwegabin pagoda on the top of the mountain with steep steps and, sometimes rocks climbing. It's very hot on daytime .Most people climb at night to avoid heat of the day and stay overnight upthere.there are food shacks on the way upto the summit so you can buy drinks, snacks, and there is restaurant upthere where you can eat traditional karen food.there are also 1126 sitting buddha statues along the plain at the foot of the mountain.it worths 3 dollars admission fee to explore this attraction but you need at least 4 hours to climb up and down and spend ritual time during day of full moon of March. This was not in our itinerary but since we were in the area, our tour guide said we would look around. It was actually north of Hpa An and closer to the town of Thaton. Going to the caves involved going up steep steps but it was not bad. It was just intimidating. There were no foreign tourists so everyone was curious including the monks that were around us. They did not speak English so the asked our tour guide a lot of questions about us. The caves were full of colorful Buddha statues which, according to our tour guide, were all donated. There was, also, a big group of monkeys playing around but I stayed away from them because I was afraid that they would bite. The area was pretty and it is worth a stop if you are already in the neighborhood. See more..

Arrived just before dusk and found a good possie to see the unxepected. Thought a few bats would fly out and it may last about 5 minutes or so. But this is really a sight to see, thousands of bats flying out at dusk and moving up and down to the rhythm of the drums and went on for about 20 to 30 minutes. I highly recommend this to others not to miss. See more..

Historically, the status of Frog and NaGar(Fire-breathing snake) tell the story of the town,why it is called Hpa-An. Near the pagoda, can see the old jetty where used to be the jetty for ship to Mawlamyaing(Now people use the land transportation). This is the starting point if you want to climb to Mount Zwe Ka Bin. A vaste garden covered with hundreds (thousand maybe) of identical budha statues giving the place a very geometrical/organised pattern. The luxuriant vegetation adds a green tint to the place mixing very well with the white and gold of the statues and giving a "lost temple atmosphere" to the place. A drive from Hpa-An around 90minutes to 2 hours. Beautiful scenery on the way and it is a medium sized beautiful waterfall. For the foreigner,need to get permission from regional authority. We went there expecting a nice relaxed time after a long day. Nicely decorated outside with a welcoming feeling. However, it is too far from a “spa”. We had a typical Thai massage. The masseurs good and kind. Unfortunately, the place was tooooo noisy! Really bad :( everybody was talking too loud. The receptionist, masseurs, clients all talking endlessly. Very distracting. It was like a street market. We returned with a headache and achy body instead. Didn’t want to recommend to our friends. The massage was good and people are kind but they don’t understand what a spa means. If they can improve and make the place quiet it will be more appealing.
