   The village of Lon Ton (also spelled as Lone Ton or Lôndôn...) is a great base to explore the Indawgyi lake. There is a fantastic education Center with great coffee and views on the lake. There are 2 guest houses - one with a/c rooms. There are several local restaurants with good food (don’t forget to ask one of them for pancakes for breakfast they are delicious). The education Center organises boat trips on the lake, rents bicycles, organises hikes, trips to watch birds and many more. It’s 4 hours from Myitkyina by car - well worth a visit, highly recommended !! See more..

   Indawgyi Lake is beautiful and peaceful. If you are looking for an escape from the city or typical tourist trail, Indawgyi Lake is for you. The guesthouse-- Indaw Mahar--is a great place. It's very simple and basic, but the owner is so sweet and helpful. He only speaks a little English, but it's enough and he is always ready to answer your questions. It costs about $10 a night. My favorite part was the veranda that looks out to the lake. There is always hot water ready for tea and coffee. You can bike and kayak, but there isn't a whole lot to do other than relax. The local people in the villages are very kind. If you are coming from the Hopin train station, it's about an hour and a half ride in a taxi "truck". It should cost you 4,000 kyat. Getting to the lake is sure to be an adventure! See more..

   Got me a Chinese moped for 15.000 Kyats a day in Myitkyina and drove for about 90 minutes. It got hilly and green. Having arrived I went on a boat for a short trip on the twi rivers. Then I had a sensational lunch, a grilled fish from one of the two rivers. The souces were fantastic. On the way back I stopped at a pagoda with a big globe as stupa. Terrific view from there.    Putao city is located at northern most part of myanmar and had cold weather, even snows in December. So shopping in Myoma market is enjoyable and hand made costumes of lesu, yawon, kachin and shan tribes who lives in hilly regions are thick and colourful. Janephaw-thu noodle shop near the market sells tastey and delicate, but sticky noodles of local style menu. Prices are reasonable and no need to bargain. See more..
