   Picnic with the Penan organized a shirt trip for me several years back and it is still one of my all time favorite travel experiences. Getting there takes some effort but that is part of the fun... small plane, 4WD, longboat upriver. The guides and family I stayed with made this an unforgettable experience with their stories and their bushcraft skills are amazing. I went into the forest for four days looking at distant mountain ranges, seeing some of the remnant big trees that have not been cut down in other parts of Sarawak and generally living off the land. This is a great opportunity to experience another way of life in a small way while also supporting local people in the way they want to craft their lives. See more..

   Saat kami berkunjung museum mini sedang ditutup karena masih direnovasi. Terlihat dari beberapa pekerja yang sedang mempebaiki teras. Untungnya kami berjumpa dengan sang pemilik (museum dikelola secara pribadi) yang bertempat tinggal persis di seberang museum. Setelah ngobrol-ngobrol dan melihat beberapa barang kuno di teras rumah kami lalu diajak untuk melihat-lihat koleksi di dalam museum. Saat melongok ternyata museumnya berukuran mungil dan masih terlihat berantakan lantaran masih ditata.
   Sambil berkeliling sang pemilik dengan ramah menjelaskan detail setiap barang yang ternyata adalah merupakan koleksi pribadi warisan nenek moyang. Saya yang awalnya tidak pernah mendengar keberadaan Suku Melanau jadi sedikit terbuka wawasan. Yang menarik selain banyak kemiripan budaya ternyata suku ini sudah sejak lama menjalin hubungan dengan etnis-etnis di Nusantara di masa lalu.
   Jika anda penyuka budaya dan kebetulan sedang berada di Mukah rasanya tempat ini cukup layak direkomendasi. Semoga saja renovasinya cepat selesai. O iya tiket masuknya 8 RM per orang. See more..
