   The historical rock paintings from the Bates people are very intricate as you walk down the trails of the host Ateso community. If you're physically fit enough to trek up your way to the view point, the most picturesque terrain stretches all the way to Mount Elgon the vast villages and farmlands in Kenya and of course without missing the Toro Rock and other Ugandan views.    This is a wonderful forest and it was great to experience the last rainforest in Kenya. There are a lot of birds, most of which you will hear but may not see. We hired a fantastic knowledgable guide called Solomon, who specialised in birds and had worked there for 32 years, so really knew what he was doing. Guides were 1000 KSH per hour and entry was 3000 KSH per person. This location does not take cash and the card machine was not working, so make sure you have M-Pesa before arriving. We were lucky enough to be able to ask a local to pay M-Pesa for us after giving him cash. See more..

   Great trekking destination. Lovely sceneries, vegetation, and waterfalls. The caves are amazing. Create time to visit at least one. Kiptum Cave is visited by the elephants for salt licking at night. Possible to summit within a day if one drive to Road End. Trekking from the Chorlim Gate will require at least 3 days.
