    - Hafes tomb
    Saturday: 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM Monuments & Statues
    Tomb of Hafez image
There is no way for a Persian to hear Shiraz’s name and doesn’t immediately think about Hafiz. To Persians, he is nothing less than a prophet. The prophet of love, art, and beauty inside. Hafiz is an inseparable item of any Persian celebration and ceremony such as Nowrouz and Yalda Night. He is one of the poetry geniuses from all times, whom Goethe, the great German poet, wished to be one of his disciples. The chances of not finding a Hafiz book in any Persian house are zero. Hafiz Shirazi is beloved among Iranians, and anyone, from children to the elderly enjoys reading his smart, beautiful, and involved poems. Every year, on 22nd October, people show their respect to him on national Hafez day by his tomb, Hafezieh. Hafes tomb is lcated in his home city of Shiraz, Hafez's tomb lies in the Musalla Gardens, inside an open pavilion encircled by eight columns. The tomb is open from 8 a.m. to between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., depending on the season. The entrance fee is about $5 USD. See more..

Famed the world over, this is one of the most beautiful mosques I have ever seen. The interior is covered with delicate mirror mosaics, and stunning tile-work and gold leaf in abundance make it a feast for the eyes. At the time of visiting I was not allowed to enter inside the shrine itself but was permitted to look in through the doors. Also note that as a tourist you will have to have an official guide with you. You will also have to pass through a security check (as does everyone else of course), so be mindful that it may take a little longer to visit than anticipated. See more..

Eram Garden (Bāq e Eram) image
Eram Garden is a beautiful garden located on one of the beautiful streets of Shiraz called Eram Street. After walking down this street, we entered the garden. The garden atmosphere is magical. There is a lovely pavilion belonging to the Qajar period in the garden (pay attention to the beautiful seven-color tiles on the facade). There is a large pond in front of this building like other Persian Gardens. There are a variety of trees, mainly cypress and orange, in this beautiful garden. The garden is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is better to visit Eram Garden around sunset or in the morning because the weather in Shiraz is warm this season (late May till early September). Of course, in the afternoon and around sunset, the number of visitors to the garden is higher. Near Eram Garden on Daneshjoo Street, different kinds of street food is served at night. Enjoy it! The entrance fee of the garden for foreign travelers is 1,000,000 Rials (around 4 USD) See more..

The Elamite rock carving dates from 2500-2000 B.C., demonstrating the importance of this site over many centuries. The first Achaemenian tomb at this site was the one of Darius the Great. Ghalat a village where due to its buildings has a long back in history is a village which is located almost 20 km from Shiraz . The village is a mixture of gardens and some houses which are mostly built with roughly shaped stones plus mortar. The village enjoys in its vicinity an eye-catching waterfall. The colorful fruit trees of the region have made the place an amazing destination for all the seasons. Recently, some coffeehouses and fast foods has been established there for the convenience of the visitors. There are so many springs and rivers and have so many camping places like Paye Chenar, Shabshotori, Cheshme Aghaei, Gerdoshahri,……On the top of each fall there is a very beautiful small woodland. Technical climbing is needed to climb and it’s specially good for cliff hangers, but some easy ways allow access. Some parts like Koljoni near Goreye Siyah fall need technical experience to climb. There is an ancient castle called Gezel Arsalan castle on the peak. Archaeologists can go there and search about its civilization. Ghalat village is an ancient village with 2500 years of history. Its houses are like stair way steps, so that the roof of one house is the yard of another. Another extraordinary thing is that village has ancient sewerage system from old era which is remained up to now. Passageways there in the village all covered by stone. The village has an ancient church is called glory of Christ which is surrounded by charming gardens. Izad Khast Castle image
The complex of Izadkhast is on the UNESCO nomination list since 2007 and should be a world heritage list. The caravanserai below (with its tower on top of the ledge), the old Safawid bridge and the Sassanids to Qajars castle ruins are a beautiful sight, well worth the visit. Reconstruction/restoration was just under way when we visited the castle. The castle is about the size of Rayen castle (which is for a large part restorated and maintained). From the castle you have magnificent views of the caravanserai and the valley below. It is 148km south of Isfahan, just of the highway towards Shiraz. The entrance gate/bridge was open (no entrance fee) when we visited, but we are not sure if that was due to the restauration efforts going on. There is a small tea-house (with decent toilet) and a small local souvenir shop nearby. See more..
