- 5.0 Uspensky Cathedral (182 reviews)
-Interesting nice view outside
Churches & Cathedrals
Nice part of history. Looks nice and has a good view of the river and town. The orthodox church is well maintained, and is located on the touristic walking route and near a nice restaurant. See more..
- 5.0 Saint Euphrosyne Monastery (100 reviews)
-A must see place in Belarus
Architectural Buildings • Religious Sites
Astonishing! DO NOT MISS OUT THE TRANSFIGURATION CHURCH!!! It seems been lost behind the gigantic Holy Cross Cathedral build in the Byzantine style. It looks ordinary and quite modern. But, beyond the 18th century facade with Classicist portico etc., the Transfiguration church contains murals of the 12th century. Inside, it is all Medieval: old frescoes, old graffiti written in different languages of Europe. I've never seen somewhat like this before! See more..

- 4.5 Saint Sophia Cathedral (127 reviews)
-Once a Cathedral, Now a Museum
Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • Churches & Cathedrals
Located in lovely high grounds overlooking the river this is a must-visit sort of place. Both the exterior and the interior are well maintained and a guided tour is necessary to appreciate it's colourful history. The interior is stunning and the old pipe organ, which is still functioning, is stunning. The Cathedral is now mostly used as a concert hall. Outside, the gardens have a history of their own including the Boris Stone. See more..
- 4.5 Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk (123 reviews)
-“Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” music festival
Points of Interest & Landmarks
A summer Amphitheatre is the main concert stage of “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” music festival. The construction itself is unique and there is no lookalike in Europe. This festival annually attracts thousands of people from all over the world. During the week-long festival not only concerts are held, but also craft fairs and outdoor exhibitions take place. The historical center of Vitebsk changes into one huge fair with overcrowded streets and constant music playing. It’s a great time in July! See more..
- 4.5 City Hall (Ratusha) (110 reviews)
-A nice museum
Speciality Museums
I visited as an English speaker. The museum has 3 levels and I recommend you pay extra to visit all 3. The cost I don't recall but it was very reasonable. There are exhibits of ancient history, archeology and nature. Well worth the tour but the place is closed on Mondays. See more..
- 4.5 Memorial Complex Three Bayonets (97 reviews)

Belarus lost 25% present of its population during the Second World War. - 4.5 Monument to the Great Duke Algirdas (73 reviews)
-Great Duke's name is Alherd
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
Great place to visit if you happen to visit Viciebsk. It's one of only two equestrian monuments in Belarus. I'm surprised that Tripadvisor uses "Algirdas" instead of great duke's correct name "Alherd" in Belarusian or at least "Olgerd" in Russian. Both languages are official in Belarus. The monument was erected in a Belarusian city and for a reason - Alherd is an important part of Belarus's history. Among other titles, he was the Duke of Viciebsk. His name is mentioned numerous times in its history books and academic papers as Alherd. It's basically a sign of Tripadvisor team's incompetence. Hope it will be fixed soon. See more..
- 4.5 Berezina Biosphere Reserve (52 reviews)
-Top-notch Nature Preserve
Nature & Wildlife Areas
I have paddled through the marshes, hiked around the bogs, visited the zoo, and checked out the museum here, it is well worth the trip for any nature lover. The museum claims to have the best display of birds in Belarus, it is certainly an excellent collection however the numbers shake out. Kayaking through the preserve is fun, but I would recommend a shorter (4 hour) tour for first-time visitors. See more..
- 4.5 Pushkinskiy Bridge (48 reviews)
-Romantic Pushkin Bridge
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Bridges
There are many Pushkin bridges and monuments in Russia Belarus and Ukraine, all usually associated with romance as is befitting the great poets life and writing. This one reflects the same theme and is clearly recognised as such by the locals as it has lots of padlocks declaring love attached to it, particularly ones attached by newly weds. It is a pretty bridge with grand sculpted lions at each end. It is well worth a stop and look on your way over the lovely river Vitba and on to the beautiful Uspensky Cathedral. This whole area of Vitebsk is charming. See more..
- 4.5 Braslau Lakes National Park (43 reviews)

- 4.5 Kirovskiy Bridge (41 reviews)
-A bridge is just a bridge
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Bridges
Hmm, if a bridge is listed as an attraction the city definitely lacks more serious sights. Anyway, the bridge itself is a classical example of 20th century Soviet architecture. It's definitely not ugly and even graceful. The views from the middle of the bridge are great, especially at sunset, with the white Uspenskiy Cathedral on the hill reflecting the last rays of the sun. See more..
- 4.5 Repin's country house in Zdrawneva (37 reviews)
Speciality Museums
See more..
- 4.5 Annunciation Church/ Blagoveschenskaya Church (35 reviews)
-Serene and beautiful
Churches & Cathedrals
Found this one of the most impressive places in Vitebsk. Two beautifully renovated churches formed an oasis within the busy city. They were actively used while I was there, so I didn't enter to prevent that I disturbed church goers. See more..
- 4.5 Belarusian Museum of Typography (31 reviews)
-Unusual and Excellent!
Speciality Museums
A rather unusual but excellent museum, generally described as a museum of books or printing in addition to being called the Museum of Typography. Here you can see totally hand-written books and hand bound books in addition to later block printed books. Some of the books are classics being hand bounded with highly ornate covers. See more..
- 4.5 Symeon of Polotsk Monument (29 reviews)
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
See more..

- 4.5 Monument to Heroes of Patriotic War 1812 (25 reviews)
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
See more..
- 4.5 Polotsk National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve (24 reviews)
-Great cultural place of outmost importance for Belarus
Speciality Museums
Interesting to visit and there is information available in English. The Cathedral is of great historical importance to Belorussians and has a long rich history. The location is stunning and has the backdrop of the river Dvina for some lovely photos if the weather allows it. There is a shop that sells English book on Polotsk which fyi is the oldest city in Belarus. See more..

Spent < 1 hour Military Museums • History Museums
See more..
- 4.5 Jesuit College (20 reviews)
Points of Interest & Landmarks
See more..
