My first time in Belarus, I was meeting my friend in Grodno, so the visafree limitation wasn't a problem - although I would have liked to stay longer than 5 days. This park has many photo opportunities! The Grodno heart, the little bridge (with many locks attached), the fountain, the eternal flame at the unknown soldier monument, the funfair etc I didn't expect to find vending machines for water and coffee! I don't usually like museums, but this one really caught my fancy. Known as the Jesuit Pharmacy, it was once located within the complex of the Jesuit Monastery. It was built in the central square of Grodno between 1700-1709. One can find it near the monumental edifice of the Cathedral Church of St. Francis Xavier (a.k.a the Jesuit Church, also the Farny Cathedral). The pharmacy continued its operation despite, wars, upheavals, and changes of ownership until 1950. The interior is a virtual treasure trove of history, culture, and artifacts of the 18th century. There are various areas to explore that include a drugstore, herbs, and medical instruments to name a few. Everything in the interior is artfully displayed, as if done by an interior designer. It was absolutely stunning! Unfortunately, our group of 20 was given just a few minutes to visit while on a walking tour of Grodno. It is definitely worthwhile to also spend some time in the village of Mir next to the castle of that name. There is a lovely green central park surrounded by attractive traditional houses and there are two churches: the orthodox Holy Trinity and the Roman catholic St.Nicholas. The St.Nicholas church was closed, when I was there, but already from the outside the building catches the eye. It looks old and is old, built around 1600 in the then popular Renaissance style. Apparently the church was constructed after the plans of the Italian jesuit Bernardoni, who spent several years in Nesvizh as house architect of the powerful Radziwill family, who then also owned Mir castle. After plenty of damage the church has now been renovated. See more..

What a great place! Wonderful music and lovely people. We went there with 2 teenage girls. But it was not boring! The price for one ticket is 4 belarusian rubbles (less than 2 £!) for the girls a half of that. Very interesting to learn the history and music of Belarus. It is 20 minutes drive from Maladzechna. You can travel there by train from Maladzechna to the railway stop called Zalessie and then walk for 10 mins to the estate. If you can bring a wee picnic. There was a quick snack of sweet bread and cold drink called 'compot' in the end of our excursion. Be ready to dance a well known polonez. Better if you know a bit of Russian to ask for directions.
