Spending a day in this enchanting place is truly a memorable experience. Viewing the beauty of such a historic park and enjoying the serenity allows one to take in the breathtaking surroundings with real pleasure. The park is filled with well preserved mature trees. The walks of hand laid stone make it easy to navigate its seemingly endless paths. Small red squirrels forage around happily occupying their tiny residences which were carefully constructed for them and placed in convenient spots in the trees. The gardens within the park bloom in colored beauty. There is a mini trolley which we took through the park, down to the beautiful white and black swan inhabited lake. The walk along the river is delightful and we viewed a tourist boat on the river Sozh. This park is truly unforgettable and not to be missed!. See more..

Thoughtful regional museum punching above its weight. Surprising number of much appreciated English translations. That’s quite unusual and certainly broadens accessibility to mainstream tourist audience. This comment applies to TOP-LEVEL narrative and not so much individual captions. Big win if museum translates all the way down as I’d have wished to learn about specific photos, documents, and artifacts that were captioned but not translated. Focus is regional, not big picture, and they do a good job covering their corner of history. Crammed in a shockingly tiny space behind is a ton of military hardware, much of it post-WWII. Another big win if museum translates outdoor identification placards to English. Staff was highly suspicious of this foreigner, but that’s the norm. They keep a proximate and watchful eye. See more..

Гомельский филиал Ветковского музея - это то место, где одинаково хорошо и взрослым, и детям.
Мы достаточно часто посещаем это учреждение и всегда думаем, что зайдем на полчасика, посмотрим, что нового, но остаемся на несколько часов. Здесь хорошо, душевно и спокойно. Здесь история и настроение, здесь истоки и традиции, которые мы не должны забывать.
Благодаря работникам Ветковского музея здесь в танцах, мастер-классах, в выставках, беседах и общении возрождается культура родной земли, обряды и традиции наших городов и сел, многие из которых уже исчезли навсегда.

О музее можно много говорить, но все равно это просто слова.
Я рекомендую в выходной, а музей работает и в выходные дни и вечера, взять детей и дружно всей семьей зайти на огонек.
Уверяю, не пожалеете ни на секунду.

The museum expositions show traditional crafts, icon and icon painting techniques, weaving techniques, and other crafts and traditions from the local villages. The expositions are rich and very well organized giving good historical background, and showing how the local crafts are connected with the history. It was a surprise to have an English-speaking tour guide in a small museum! She was knowledgeable and very passionate about her work. The museum is definitely worth a drive from Gomel. See more..

Памятник от благодарных гомельчан расположен в сквере возле здания ЗАГСа на улице Ирининской (бывшей Первомайской). Улица переименована в честь И. И. Паскевич. Открыт в сентябре 2003г в День города. Высота бронзового монумента два метра, это символично, т.к. сама Ирина Паскевич была несколько ниже ростом, но отнюдь не делами.. Она была уникальной личностью. Светлейшая княгиня оставила память о себе в веках несметным числом благотворительных дел для города.
Она сделала первый перевод романа Л. Н. Толстого «Война и мир» на французский язык, остававшийся единственным французским тестом этого литературного шедевра до конца 20-го века. See more..

Свято-Троицкий костел можно назвать одной из основных достопримечательностей этого города. Еще в далекие времена СССР костел был открыт, как кофе с мороженным и прочими вкусностями. Well, church like many others. Quite nice architecture and definitely its one of the main sights in Mazyr, but it's mainly due to the size of the town, not the importance of the church. But what is worth noticing, between 1937 to 1941 this cathedral was used as a local Soviet NKVD prison and interrogation centre, and executions were carried out in the basement. I didn't manage to visit them, but local resident told me that there are open for visitors on certain days. See more..

Если вы хотите посмотреть маленькую, но интересную Беларусь, совсем не обязательно покупать путевку. Основной транспорт это поезда, автобусы и попутные авто ))) Не далеко и не дорого. К сожалению по югу Беларуси не ходят поезда (только через Минск), но зато передвигаясь на авто, вы можете заезжать в такие места, как Речица. Здесь установлен своеобразный крест, который посвящен многим датам страны и всем святым Беларуси.
