  1. 5.0 Casa El Enemigo (2.041 reviews)
    - Must-go place during a trip in Mendoza!
    Sunday: 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Casa El Enemigo image
Loved it! It was our first time in Mendoza and started our trip with this amazing place. Made a reservation for dinner and also got a tasting of their Gran Enemigo wines (only for my husband as I was driving...). The staff attention was great - specially Luciano, who gave his best to explain all the details of the wine production and different characteristics between the ones we were tasting. The "maridage" between food and wines was incredible, food was very tasty and the menu carefully prepared (we got a table with a view to the kitchen, great adding by the way!). The place by itself has a great atmosphere and we left wishing to come back soon. Great experience! See more..
  2. 5.0 Bodega Roberto Bonfanti (1.460 reviews)
    - One of the best experiences of our trip.
    Sunday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Wineries & Vineyards
    Bodega Roberto Bonfanti image
If you wish to acquaint yourself with the winemaking, tasting, and all the subtleties that go into the wine experience, this is the place to go. Estela Bonfanti is the current matriarch of a 4th generation winery. From the vino joven to the “pasadas por la madera” reservas and gran reservas, she knows it all. Her small winery is a tribute to those that still enjoy their occupation. The tasting at the end was fantastic and all in a small bucolic setting. The meal, which was optional, was also outstanding. A better experience than my visit to NAPA’s Chandon two years ago. Kudos. See more..
  3. 5.0 Pulenta Estate Winery (1.348 reviews)
    - Bodega Highlight
    Sunday: Wineries & Vineyards
    Pulenta Estate Winery image
A charming experience at Pulenta! Having visited big bodegas before it was a welcome change to discover this 'smaller' estate with soulful wines. The terrace is superbly set with a stunning picture framed view of the Andes. Juanna our guide, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable while guiding us through the winery. She expertly conducted the tasting. Coming from the wine world I found that there wines are craft with a lot of finess. They are fresh, balanced and have great drinkability. Definitely one of our highlights. See more..
  4. 5.0 Bodega Tierras Altas (1.090 reviews)

  5. 5.0 Bodega La Azul (1.064 reviews)
    - Wonderful lunch
    Wineries & Vineyards
    Bodega La Azul image
We had a great lunch experience at this welcoming family-owned winery and restaurant. We sat outside which, despite the summer heat, allowed for great views and a relaxing atmosphere for our meal. They offer a tasting menu with wine pairing and although I can't remember all of the dishes we had some that I can highlight are the jabali (wild boar) appetizer, the empanadas and the choripan. These were all delicious and were everything I needed to make me happy. Their bread was also delicious, salty and soft. Their wines were good, not the best we had in this region, but the good food, whole ambiance and cozy experience is really what you're here for. After our meal we toured the cellar and got to taste one of their reds from the barrel. This was definitely one of the better meals we had while in Mendoza. The service here was excellent and the entire meal cost us half of what we paid at another (overpriced, overrated) restaurant in the area. See more..

  8. 5.0 Reserva Provincial La Payunia (468 reviews)
    - Magical day at an unbelievable place!
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Reserva Provincial La Payunia image
We went with Payunia Turismo (payuniaevt.com), they are great, they give you advice and recomendations helping you to fit any activity to your trip, they also give you some discount tickets for the city. To visit the reserve a guide it's required. We booked the whole day at Reserva La Payunia, they pick you up around 8:30 and you can expect to get back around 20:00. The whole route its on a bus with several stops, one of them for eating (because of pandemics you have to bring your own). There are only restrooms at the park rangers cabin, so make sure you take advantage of that. Bring a lot water , and enjoy the beautiful landscapes you won't regret any picture even the blurry ones. After the visit they take you for a free coffe to the Llano Blanco geopark, where you can hire a one hour walk by the mountain or just sit there and relax for a bit before get back to Malargue. 11. 4.5 Parque Provincial Aconcagua (4.801 reviews)
    - Stunning park , overly complex entrance admin!
    Mountains • National Parks
    Parque Provincial Aconcagua image
This is a beautiful national park with stunning views, well worth a visit. It’s very easy to get to on Andesmar bus (5.55 am at time of writing ) Be warned - buy your park ticket on line in advance as there is no way to pay at the entrance, and online requires the mercadopago app which no one could get (only foreigners at the time of our arrival). Many groups were stuck at the entrance trying to contact Argentinian friends to pay for them. Once this hurdle was out of the way the walk around the park was spectacular. Unfortunately Confluencia (base camp) wasn’t open - though not obvious on the website, so worth checking before you travel. Rumours are it opens tomorrow! See more..
  12. 4.5 Canon del Atuel (3.510 reviews)
    - Supreme...
    Geologic Formations
    Canon del Atuel image
Well, if you are in town and need to choose one thing to do: This is your best option. I strongly recommend to start the trip up in El Nihuil down to Valle Grande as the vast majority of the traffic flow go in this direction. It’s possible to begin in Valle Grande but It’s more pleasant and easy to drive backwards from El Nihuil to Valle Grande. The road is AMAZING, a beautiful Canyon, close to the river, great views, bunch of picnic spots so it’s an incredible experience. The whole road can take up to 5 or 6 hours if you stop. If you are hurry, you can do it in only 2 hours. For best pictures is better to start in the morning - noon and the location of the sun is perfect and colors are more vivid. Enjoy!. Last but not least, there are Very few services during the road so make sure you bring enough water and food!. See more..
  13. 4.5 The Hill of Glory (Cerro de la Gloria) (2.882 reviews)
    - The best sight in the city of Mendoza?
    Lookouts
The Hill of Glory (Cerro de la Gloria) image
Recommended by a tour guide, we discovered it is beyond the Park, beyond the football grounds and up a massive hill. We took a taxi and asked him to wait 15 minutes. Seems to be normal and he was happy: c15 minutes drive from the central square. You wont find a random taxi to bring you down. The tourist bus comes here, though. Anyway it is a terrific, huge monument, with tremendous detail. There are views through the trees of the Andes on one side and the city on the other. It’s pretty popular with tourists and fitness freaks who walk or run up. There’s a decent looking cafe here. We were unseemingly pleased with ourselves for taking the advice to visit. See more..

  15. 4.5 Los Reyunos Dam (1.796 reviews)
    - Los Reyunos dam: budget travel
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Dams
    Los Reyunos Dam image
We got to Los Reyunos dam using public transportation (a bus from San Rafael downtown costing less than ARS 400). We then paid ARS 1,000 to spend a day on a camping site (actually the bus has a stop there). We could get into the water and enjoy the afternoon on the beach. This is a very nice and economical option to enjoy this spot, and a suitable one for people who are either travelling on a budget, or who are mainly interested in swimming and sunbathing. If I had I known I could get to Los Reyunos by public transportation some years ago, I would not have hired a tour to get to this dam. Of course, some people prefer renting a car or having a van picking them up from hotels so this is a matter of personal preference. See more..
  16. 4.5 Potrerillos Dam (1.723 reviews)
    - The perfect day with the perfect people.
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Dams
    Potrerillos Dam image
Astonishing place, just 1 hour from Mendoza city, if you can go by car is better because you can freely choose between stops and the distances are far for walking. On the other hand you can take a bus (AR$81 by ticket) and hop off on the second stop (the first one after Cacheuta). The Dam itself its a marvelous lake with blue waters and high mountains you can see the Aconcagua from certain places. It becomes the perfect activity for a whole day, pack some food, beverages and a speaker if you want, invite some friends over and enjoy. Just be cautious of the sun there is no shading. Some spots has kayak and other rental activities for the day. See more..

    Mirador del Sol image
Booked the excursion with a tour company, just down the road from the casino. Left at 5pm, so we caught the sunset at the top. Our driver/guide, Jorge, was great and very knowledgeable about the whole area. It had snowed 2 nights previously and lots of cars were coming down with mini snowmen on them. An hour at the top is ideal for a walk around & a drink/bite to eat in the cafe. The views across the plain are spectacular, especially at sunset. See more..

  22. 4.5 Bodega Trapiche (1.135 reviews)
    - Trapiche is a must
    Sunday: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Bodega Trapiche image
If you visit Mendoza, you should not miss a visit to the Trapiche winery, which has been in operation since 1912. The site is very interesting, and still preserves the original equipment of the early years, whose movement was made with a steam boiler that operated inside the industrial plant. The winery was so important that the railroad used to enter the property to transport its products. Today, Trapiche is a modern winery that produces high-end wines. In the evening we visited Estación 83, a traditional food restaurant, located inside the plant with a bar set in an old railroad bagon, the tables are distributed in an old olive grove, and it is wonderful to watch the sunset while savoring mandocina empanadas and other excellent dishes. Trapiche is worth a visit. See more..

  28. 4.5 Parque Nacional Sierra de las Quijadas (811 reviews)
    - Come Prepared
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM National Parks
Parque Nacional Sierra de las Quijadas image
We visited today by public transport. 1. There are frequent busses until 8:05, then nothing until 12:00. We took the 8:05, but the park gets very hot as you walk, so an earlier would be better. 2. Many people say the bus drops you at the ranger station. No. It drops you on the main road near a shop and tour company which are not always open. (possibly only in high season) The ranger station is about 500m down the road, but easy to find. They sell a limited amount of snacks there, but no drinks or cold items. 3. You will have to walk 6km to the trails, unless you can flag a lift. It's an easy walk, and we saw mara (related to guinea pigs). The mara were fearless, we took photos from about 2m away! At the campsite, there's a nice shady area for lunch and lots of cheeky birds. Some beautiful lizards as well, but they more shy. So, it's about 1 hr and 15-30 minutes, but quite nice. It is very exposed, so sun hat and sunscreen. 4. Please suggest to the park that they get bicycles to rent! That would be great. 5. The view is stunning. Not all trails are open all the time, and in low season it might not be possible to do the two longer ones which require guides. The others are all very easy. 6. There is no shade in the trails area, but they are putting up a swish new building with toilets and what looks like a shop of some sort. 7. Getting home was not so easy. The park ranger thought there was a bus at 15:30 ("mas o menos!") but although we were there at 15:15 (along with a local) no bus came until 16:40. Again, there is no bus stop or shelter, so it is uncomfortable to say the least. The fares were 71 pesos from San Luis to the park, and 80 pesos return. See more..
  29. 4.5 Susana Balbo Wines (756 reviews)
    - Stunning food and wine in an idyllic setting
    Sunday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Wineries & Vineyards
    Susana Balbo Wines image
We can’t say enough about the remarkable four course meal with wine pairings that our party of seven enjoyed at Susana Balbo winery. The setting is idyllic, and the service was impeccable. Susana Balbo makes great wines, and we enjoyed a sampling of these as well. But what really stole the show were the wonderfully prepared and presented farm to table dishes. Easily on par with a Michelin starred restaurant in NY or Paris. I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking but the dishes ranged from trout to lamb to to calamari on cucumber carpaccio. The poached pear, goat cheese and dark chocolate desert was simply stunning. The dinner was not inexpensive but other options nearby cost twice as much and delivered less. We will be back on our next trip to the region. See more..

You have to buy the tickets in the tourist office in malargue (tough if you are coming up from the south!) then have about 70 km drive south to them. very scenic country. tour started very slowly in big entrance cave and nothing much happened for a while then suddenly we all went caving, up, down, ladders, on hands and knees, quite unexpected and no health and safety involved but great fun!
