Tarsier Conservation Area, Visayas, Philippines

Unique animals

Located on the main road from the city, the bus cost 30 pesos each... You then need to walk about 500m or so to the sanctuary. Paid a small fee of 80 pesos each and were shown around the sleeping Tarsiers by a guide in the surrounding forest. Was a beautiful experience.

    sheer tarsier experience
for 150 pesos, you can see the world's smallest primate up close and personal. those eyes would stare at you like you would at them menacingly. as nocturnal animals, tarsiers are supposed to be asleep during the day. this facility houses a souvenir shop that sells items that are exorbitantly priced. don't be fooled to buy a 200 peso single shot-glass if you collect this kind of stuff. that same price can buy you four pieces in a department store. come early in the morning to avoid the crowd.

    Better place to see tarsiers
The first time I went to Bohol, we saw tarsiers inside a restaurant and staff were turning tarsier's heads to face the camera and waking them up for guests. It was very disheartening. This place, however, let tarsiers be in a natural habitat. The place printed constant reminders for guests to be quiet and respect this small primates. Guides are very helpful and take good photos too. I would recommend.
