Great walk
I walked up this mountain while staying in Brasov. It was beautiful and not too difficult. I took one of the paths next to the cable car entry. There are a few viewpoints which are amazing views of the city so it is well worth it. If lazy you can take the cable car or do what I did and take it going down only for 15 lei.

Nice are to walk while you enjoy the view
Yes, its a must. From Piata Sfatului just 10 min in the direction of the cable cars. Huge are for a walk, mountain bike area, playgrounds for children, tabletennis. And a nice view. You can go by cable car to the top of Tampa or you walk. You will find shadow during the walk. After go bach to old city center and enjoy coffe or beer while you are looking at the people- enjoy !!!

Forested mountain with panoramic views
Mount Tampa is a forested mountain on the east side of the city. In the 1950's, when Brasov was named Orasul Stalin (Stalin City), trees were removed so that Stalin's name appeared on the hillside facing the old town. Since then the forest has regrown and the hillside is now a nature reservation. Several trails go to the top (940m), and take about an hour; you may see a variety of wildflowers, birds or small mammals on the way. A cable car allows easy access to the top from the city center; from the upper cable car station it is a 400m walk behind the Brasov sign to the rocky summit (at 955m) for the best views of the town. Trails are accessible at all times with no entry fee. The cable car is open from 9:30am - 4pm (closed Mon) with a ticket price of 16 lei round trip.
