Rented a guide called Johanes’s and Gabriel for the duration of our 6 day trip around sibayak toba and Bukit lawang. Guide was perfect as he spoke fluent English and was very informative very attentive to our needs and would always know what to do to make us enjoy the trip didn’t make us pay extra also and was very transparent about the costs. For 5d4n tour accommodation food hotel and driver included is only 9.3 million rupiah find it hard to beat it for value anywhere else not to mention it’s for two people additional 2 days we hired the driver for extra one million rupiah and it was well worth it as he drove us everywhere and also offered the protection that we needed. Harly - the best guide in Sumatra!
In August 2022 I went to Sumatra with my boyfriend, and we had the pleasue of having Harly (WhatsApp: +62 811 6155 838) as our guide. Harly is a local guide from Berastagi, but we were so lucky to have him with us as well in Bukit Lawang and around Lake Toba. Harly was very informative about everthing we asked him about, whether is was volcanos or local tribes - and he did always answer with a huge smile. His English is really good, so it was easy to understand him and have a conversation with him. On our trek to the top of Mount Sibayak and the rest of our trip, we had a lot of fun, shared a lot of stories about our different countries, cultures and nature. In Denmark, were we're from, it's really flat, so we found Mount Sibayak really amazing - even though we didn't got the perfect sunrise, it was still amazing. After the summit we went to the crater, where Harly told us everything he know and shared the openings, where the gas came out. When we were done with trekking we went to a local hot spring to relax and enjoy the warm water. During our stay we had an intern joke by saying: Harly - probably the best guide in Sumatra. We came up with this, since we in Denmark have a beer, where the slogan is: probably the best beer in the world. So if you're going to Berastagi to trek on Mount Sibayak, I would recommend Harly as your guide, because he is the best guide in Sumatra!

Exellent Trip!
We had a short trip around North Sumatra visiting Medan, Berastagi, Taman Simalem and Lake Toba with the help of our guide Johanes (+62 822-7225-7804). As Johanes was able to speak English fluently, communicating with him was easy. Johanes was also great at guiding us along the trip sharing tidbits about the area and Indonesia in general, exposing us to spots that are trendy among local such the Loken Barn and The Kaldera which were not in our lists, and of course food such as Pecel Lele, alpukat juice and local persimmons. We also did a sunrise hike guided his brother, Ricky who was a supportive and helpful guide that make our hike up Mount Sibayak memorable. Our driver, Pak Tamin was amazing as well!
