- 4.5 Wat Phra That Su Thon Mongkhon Khiri (49 reviews)
-Magnificent temple.
Points of Interest & Landmarks
This was our last destination before we left Phrae. The Burmese-Lanna style large temple is very rich with many beautiful sculptures (such as a remarkable 85 m Burmese style reclining Buddha, mythical creatures, guardian giants, former Thai great kings, etc.) and stunning architectures (such as an elaborate Lanna style 3 level octagonal based structure embellished with statues and total of 32 golden pagodas, beautiful arch doors, etc.). The temple also contains a museum in a Lanna style teak pavilion that collects some ancient artifacts plus old pictures of Lanna kingdom and former Lanna lords. Such a gorgeous temple! Worth a visit. -Erosion
Points of Interest & Landmarks
In simple terms: Time has eroded soft sand and left hard sand standing as pillars. It’s similar to what can be seen in Chiang Mai, Sa Kaeo, and Ratchaburi but access is relatively speaking easier. When we were there, school classes were taken on guided tours where park rangers explained about geology and dinosaurs (I assume to keep the attention at peak). A nice but not overwhelming destination. See more..

-Mor Hom market.
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Along this road, there are many shops selling every kinds of the best quality genuine Mor Hom dresses at cheap price. Here, we enjoyed shopping and bought several shirts. Mor Hom is a famous deep blue dye (which is extracted from the local plant called "Hom" ; do not confuse this with the indigo plant), fabric that is a symbol of Phrae. If you like a stylish local shirt, this place is highly recommended. See more..
- 4.5 Phrathat Doi Leng (10 reviews)
-"Aim" at Phrae city, as its name suggests.
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The temple is on the top of the hill. We drove on a paved sloping (and narrow) path surrounded by a bunch of trees up the hill to the parking lots, then walked few steps up to the temple. The temple's main feature is a small white pagoda that contains Buddha relics lies in front of a beautiful Lanna style wooden hall. Behind the hall, there is a viewpoint where we enjoyed a panoramic view of Phrae city and surrounding green hills. Recommend. See more..
- 4.0 City Pillar Shrine (8 reviews)
-Phrae's city pillar.
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Located right in the centre of Phrae city, the Lanna style pavilion contains a golden city pillar made of "Yomhin wood" (Phrae's provincial tree), plus an ancient stone inscription which is a former zero milestone of Phrae city. Also, in front of the shrine, there are 2 guardian giants which are supposed to keep watch over the place. However, one of them is sleeping, while the other is distracted by something in the distance which is a reflection of the calm and peaceful town of Phrae. The meaning is clearly that in Phrae there are no threats that require the vigilance of the giants. This was our first stop of the day, since it is (Thai) customary to pay respect to the town before entering the town. See more..

Points of Interest & Landmarks • Thermal Spas
See more..

Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts
Mae Thang resevoir is known to Phrae locals only. There is a lake surrounded by mountains. You can go and hire a boat to go fishing. Or you can hire a boat for sightseeing while enjoying lunch on board. There is no bus or public transport to get there so you must drive or rent a car or a bike. The place has no electricity at night. See more..

Points of Interest & Landmarks
See more..
