This is a great little park. About one hour from either Lampang or Phrae, but no public transportation that I know of. Clean toilets, plenty of picnic tables, one food stall on site. Visitor center staff didn't speak much English but were friendly. Arrived at 11 AM on Saturday and had the whole place to myself until 2 PM when a local family arrived for a picnic. Peaceful site to just sit and read, or walk up the falls. If you don't mind getting your feet wet, you can climb up to level 7. Great views and good footing all the way up. Entry fee was 200 baht. Be aware that an alternate spelling of Wiang Kosai National Park is needed to locate the park using GPS mapping tools.See more..
On a 3 day weekend we drove down from Nan to stay at Mae Yom National Park. We planned to camp in tents, however were happy to find many of the bungalows still available. The park entrance fee is 100B per adult and the bungalows are 500B-1000/night (2 beds). We visited in December and the river was very low, however rafting trips and tubing was still available to book. Covered most of the park on motorbike and hiked a few of the trails which lead to beautiful views overlooking Song and towards Nan. The mountains go on and on, sunset from the top of the 'lookout' was breathtaking. A few waterfalls nearby driving distance, and the river has many places to swim and hang by the water. An hour north is Dinosaur Kangluang Forest Park - a dinosaur museum (very small) but worth checking out! 1-2 days would be plenty to cover a few trails, however the relaxing and secluded feel of the parks bungalows was well worth the 3 days. *- the restaurant on site has little food available (package noodles). We drove to the next city (Song - 20KM) daily to get food/water and supplies. Pack accordingly. Tents also available for rent.See more..
