The monument is consist of a statue of a fisherwoman who looks back to the sea one more time expecting her love one and plaques with all names of the fishermen who died or never cameback from their work in the see. When you see the monument in its entirety, that's very impressive. It's a moment of silence See more..

    Exposure image
I am a huge fan of Antony Gormley, living relatively close to 'Another Place' another of his installations near Liverpool, so planned a detour via Lelystad so we could see it. It did not disappoint! Situated on a narrow breakwater, the giant crouching figure truely is exposed, surrounded by water on 3 sides. It is clearly visible from Lelystad and the Houtribdijk dam. If you wish to see it close up, there is a small car park nearby, it is then a 500m walk along a path that is wheelchair accessible. Well worth a detour! See more..

    De Orca image
The orca is located on the harbour area, in front of the tourist information centre. The orca is above a bassin. It is a fountain as the water come from the blowhole of the orca once a while. The Orca is associated with the name of Urk ( in the history the name of Urk was Orc). It's nice to see it. See more..
