MAS - Museum aan de Stroom, Flanders, Belgium
4.5 (3.540 reviews) Monday: Spent Ranking #20 in Flanders Speciality Museums
Museum and viewpoint
We visited this place on June 23th. This museum does not have a dedicated parking. You have to park your car on one of the surrounding streets (very expensive). You have three options: the viewpoint is free, the museum and the temporay exhibition. You can also ask for a combined ticket for the museum and the temporay exhibition. Most people will use the escalator to see the differant parts of the musuem. The elevator can only be operated by a staff member. Every floor has a different theme; Colourful rituals, About cities and food, About the port, people and cargo, Of Gods and mankind, .. You will get a bracelet, so you can re enter when you want to take a bite or drink.

Interesting and educational in a modernist way.
We ended up walking to the museum as we couldn't work out the public transport to the site. (We also know it is closed on Monday's). Worth the 12 euro entrance fee. Modern, accessible building with a nice cafe. Each floor needs a different amount of time so make sure you know what are your must sees. My favourite was floor 2 which was dedicated to artefact curation and packing. Others liked the more Antwerp specific stuff. The history of the Belgian organ was also fascinating. Unfortunately when we got to the top floor and viewing area it was raining so we missed out on photos of the roof tops of Antwerp and the River Scheldt to the sea. In summary, take your time, this museum is easy to rush and miss things.

As always an amazing lookout over the city of Antwerp!
Always nice to visit the MAS, the entrance to the building is free, just remember the entrance to the exhibits is not. Nice to picknick inside in front of one of the large windows or to take a look at the city of Antwerp on top. Watch out for temporary exhibitions ! They have a lot to offer.
