Great tour!
The brewery we visited in Bruges is called De Halve Maan (The Half Moon) and is owned by the Henri Maes family. Although the sorts of beer produced here have distinct names, generically their beer is called Maes and is found almost everywhere in Belgium. The current brewery has been in production since 1856. Those of the Maes family are at the fifth generation of brewers. Among the interesting thing that the guide told us about the brewery is that they have a beer sort called Heritage that can be kept for 10 years, which for beer is less common. Remarkable is the fact that one year production of beer is kept in barrels in which whiskey has been kept, another year in cognac barrels, another year in rum barrels ... I wonder what this beer tastes like?! We also went out on the roof of the brewery from where the view of the city is spectacular. At the end of the tour, based on the admission ticket, we received a free beer at the brewery brasserie.

Brewery Tour
Did the 45min $16 euro brewery tour today which comes with one full beer pour out of three beer choices. Pretty cool if you haven’t done a brewery tour. I had never done a major brewery tour so I found it interesting. This one was unique to hear about the family as well as the innovations to continue brewing in the city center of Brugge. Packed a lot of people into small spaces, lots of stairs just FYI. Overall I had good time but I think next time just go to the bar and have more beer and skip the tour.
