We had a wonderful time catching sockeye salmon during our Alaskan vacation and we're getting to enjoy them now back home in Louisiana! We arranged our fishing trip in advance with Kenai Wild Fishing and opted for the combo salmon fishing trip. In retrospect we should have just booked to fish for Sockeye as the King were not biting at all which meant we paid extra for that stamp on our license as well as to put the rods out for no action at all. Nevertheless, we had a blast fishing and catching our limit on sockeye and Joe was the perfect guide in helping our group achieve that goal! Afterwards he also cleaned/filleted our fish and directed us where to take them to get them processed/frozen to bring home. What a wonderful day in the gorgeous Kenai River; thank you Joe!! Taylor and Cole were fantastic from the start. Our first concern was "is the trip suitable for our 6 and 8 year old boys"?. Taylor completely assured us that it was safe and fun for young children learning to fish. Our actual fishing guide Cole was patient, chill and fiercely determined to have us catch our limit of silver salmon. Worth every penny for sure. Chet has a great demeanor (calm, strong, confident, humble), his boat skills are outstanding, and he’s well respected on the river. I like to thoroughly check an outfit out before booking, but there was minimal info about his, so I just took the chance. So glad I did. Book him if you can, I’d say it’s your best chance of getting the fish you want (always dependent on the run and tides, which he’s very knowledgeable about) with the least hassle. It’s the kind of experience you kinda wanna keep secret so you’ll have a better chance of booking a spot, but he really deserves a good review. See more..

My wife and I have fished with Ian of Kenai Flyfish on multiple occasions for Trout, King and Silver Salmon and have never been disappointed. Ian’s personable manner makes it a pleasure to spend time with him and his extensive knowledge of the river, the ecosystem, and the habits and characteristics of each species of fish is nothing short of amazing. Equally impressive is Ian’s focus on making sure you are comfortable and having a good time while he puts you on the fish. Regardless of the extent of your fishing experience Ian will calmly and effectively teach you how to be a better fisherman. I have fished with and without guides. 5 years ago I started fishing with Jeff and have been very pleased. A total professional with top notch equipment. Excluding one of the nicest boats on the Kenai. Top of the line fishing equipment and bait. His dock and boat slips are not only state of the art but his location on Beaver creek is one of the most desired on the Kenai river! You are smack dab in the best water (fishing holes) on the river. Chris was our guide for a full day of sockeye salmon. We had gone with another outfit a couple of days before and caught zero. We had a 9 year old and a 94 year old in our group. He made sure that they were safe and comfortable. He even built a fire in the rain to keep them warm. Chris reminded us when it was 15 minutes before we had to leave and wouldn't you know it, the fish starting hitting. He allowed us to stay until we got our limit of 24 sockeye salmon. This is a trip we will never forget. He then proceeded to filet the fish, What a masterful job he did! I had watched 4 or 5 Youtube videos, and he blew them away. My husband and I flew to Alaska from San Diego and had a fishing trip planned with our guide Bill to go silver salmon fishing. We started our day at 5:30 am because Bill wanted to ensure we had the best spot on the river. The last couple weeks were slow for salmon fishing and Bill wanted to give us the best possible chance to catch something. It was extremely cold, 30 degrees but Bill packed two portable heaters. I was extremely grateful because I am not used to that kind of cold! I caught 2 giant salmon and the other couple caught 3. We were really because the other boats only caught 1 or nothing at all. Bill is a really genuinely good guy. We chatted for hours and I can just tell he is a hard working genuinely nice person. It is hard to come by people like him him. My husband and i wished we had another day planned with Bill because we had such a good experience. We plan to come back next summer. I highly suggest booking this charter. You won’t be disappointed. This Russian Orthodox Church is a beautiful National Historical Site. Initially the Church was locked, but the gift shop was open. The attendant was pleasant and knowledgeable. Because she did not have any other customers she showed us the inside of the Church. For me, this was the first time I've been in an Orthodox Church and found it quite moving. From the Icons to the architect this is well worth a few minutes of your time. ( I should note that the Church is kept locked. Not everyone who visits may have the opportunity to see the inside, but even a walk around the outside is worth a stop.) See more..

Dean and his deckhand Wade were awesome! Me, my dad, and father-in-law had a full day on the Kenai with Dean fishing reds. We didn't quite limit out but we had our opportunities. Dean put us on fish immediately and Wade supported anything we needed. The King of the River crew was on time and meant business starting at 4:00am. As guys who love to fish, we like that in a guiding service. Dean and Wade fought for some shoulder room for us and maintained it throughout the day. Ace Fishing Adventures (Aaron Cooper) was referred to us by by another guide service that was not able to accommodate our schedule. We were extremely pleased. My wife and I booked a Halibut trip out of Homer and a King trip out of Kenai. The halibut trip was great, limited and had a great time with Aaron and Mark, who were extremely experienced and accommodating. On the day of the King trip we met Aaron at the landing and he told us that he could take us out, but because of heavy rain putting a lot of silt and debris in the river he doubted it would be a successful trip. We went over out schedule with him and he suggested substituting a trip with his partner Mark for silvers out of Seward, which fit our schedule perfectly. We limited on silvers and had another great day on the water with Mark. My experience is most guides would have just spent the day on the water and at the end of the day, "oh well." What can I say? I would swim here everyday!! As it was, it's a 12-mile drive, but worth it. The water is a comfortable warm, unlike the high schoo in Ketchikan. The people there are nice. And I adored the hot tub. If you're overweight, don't worry! Jump in the water. No one is there to judge you. They are just happy to see you there!
