This was a Holland America photography tour out of Skagway, Alaska. Your guide was Dale Cunning. It was an excellent tour in a small group. Dale timed stops to avoid crowds at the popular sites. Over 3 hours we made about 10 stops at photographic stops most of which I would have missed on my own. Dale is helpful to assist everyone no matter what their level of experience. Itinerary will vary depending on weather conditions. We had good weather so we started out at Skagway grave yard and waterfall and up to white pass and just into the Yukon. Got lots of great photos!See more..
5.0Kroschel Films Wildlife Center(545 reviews) - An absolute must if you are in Haines or Skagway Nature & Wildlife Areas
Quite simply, the Kroschel Films Wildlife Center absolutely moved me. Steve Kroschel is an independent film maker who has worked with Nat Geo, BBC, PBS and many others, bringing nature to the big screen. His love and dedication to preserving and conserving our natural world is contagious. A little outside of the box, Steve’s energy and enthusiasm creates an experience that is impossible to ignore. All the feels. It makes my heart happy to know that people like Steve and his crew (we met humble Patrick and bubbly Ivanka) are out there in the world. I left a bit teary eyed, I was so moved. If you are ever in Haines, Alaska…this is a must!!! It is educational in the “rightest” of ways. I am actually struggling to find the words to accurately describe the emotions that this experience and this wonderful human being created for me. Thank you!!!See more..
Excellent! This was a really nice adventure. The food and drink was fantastic, we were collected from the dock with really clear communication. On the trail, the vehicles were easy to manage despite the steep paths. There were fantastic views and hidden gems, waterfalls, a lovely lake, and spectacular views back over the valley. We had 3 kids with us between 4 and 11 and all fitted in the back seat comfortably. Cost-wise you get a lot more for your money than some other tours, and I felt like it was money well spent.See more..

Port Chilkoot Distillery produces five local spirits, all handcrafted in the Southeast Alaskan town of Haines, at the upper end of the Inside Passage where the ocean meets the mountains. The distillery began in 2012 when owners Heather and Sean renovated an old bakery in a historical area of Haines called Fort William H. Seward. All spirits are thoughtfully made with high-quality ingredients including certified organic and non-GMO verified corn grown in Washington, featuring labels that represent the maritime culture and fishing town where we live and operate. Visitors from around the world journey to Southeast Alaska in search of unique, local experiences and find our distillery nestled in the historical town of Haines. 5.0Chilkat River(37 reviews) - Great rafting experience ! Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water
This was an amazing rafting experience ! We were in town (Haines) for only one day with no previous arrangements, headed to the Eagle sanctuary. With only a phone call we had an experienced, knowledgeable engaging tour guide, that listened to what we were interested in, and accommodated all our requests. Further, we found this father – son team that operated this company to be instantly likeable, to the point that weve already begun plans to return.See more..

5.0Battery Point Trail(22 reviews) - Well constructed and maintained Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
We hiked this trail today. One of the best maintained trails we have hiked in Alaska. The forest areas are lovely with gravel on the trail. Some elevation changes may be a challenge for some, so don't be surprised. There are bridges over little creeks or large rocks placed aa stepping stones. We saw sea birds, porcupine, bear scat, scoters, winter wrens and many mushrooms. If you hike it with little children plan on carrying them part of the time. There are some benches for a rest if you find the trail tiring. Hike out to the beach and keep walking on the beach and you will get to Battery Point...close to the channel marker. No restrooms, no trash cans, no fresh water. Pack it in, pack it out!See more..
5.0Chilkat State Park(22 reviews) - Great views! Spent 2-3 hours State Parks
Getting there required going over a gravel road full of very deep potholes then going down a very steep hill with sharp switch back turns. Twice as bad coming back out. Use 4 wheel drive (if you have it ) to make the climb easier through all the large ruts. The view of rainbow glacier was worth it! Be sure to go in the morning so the sun is on the glacier for great pictures. See more..
5.0Tour de Scooter(5 reviews) - Best way to see Haines Spent 2-3 hours Gear Rentals
As a cruise stop, we loved Haines! We highly recommend seeing Haines by the Scooter. There is only one ship in port at once, so the town still feels quaint and not overwhelmed with people. We decided to rent scooters ($20 an hour or $60 for the day), which was much less than any of the cruise excursions; however, only one adult per scooter because they are smaller engines. Alex gave us great directions, and we grabbed a Haines is for Hikers from the visitor center. We hiked Mt. Riley, which was more difficult than anticipated and took ~3.5 hours, but was spectacular at the top. We then rode out to the Chiphok Lake, which is a beautiful ride, and let us see a bunch of eagles.See more..

Going to this Art Gallery provides a very authentic Alaskan experience. On the way to the gallery you travel along the beautiful Chilkat River.
