   We had a great day of sailing on Buzzards Bay with skipper Laurel aboard their 31’ Pearson. The boat was well maintained and very comfortable. Laurel is not only an expert sailor but also an Underwater Archeologist. She told some great sea stories and instructed us on basing sailing techniques so we were able to trim the sails, steer and tack with her guidance. The sail boat is at a mooring so Laurel arranged for a tender to take us out and back in after sailing included in the price. She also brought some snacks to share which was very thoughtful.    I spent the 4th of July at Ft Phoenix and it turned out to be an excellent choice. There were not many people there, so social distancing was no problem. Parking was plentiful and FREE. The ruins of the fort was interesting. I didn’t go into the water, so I can’t access that, but water shoes would be a good idea. Bathrooms were reasonably clean. I am sure there are better beaches in MA, places like Crane Island, but it requires advanced reservations and the last time I checked, it was booked up through July, so it does no good to have better beaches if you can’t go. I drove through Plum Island a few days before the 4th, late in the afternoon, and there was very little parking available. Anyone wanting to get outside, but away from crowds should consider aft Phoenix. See more..

    Bucket list was to shark dive! Was hoping to see a Great White, but unfortunately not this time. Captain Joe was a very nice guy. Sharks weren’t coming as fast as we hoped but he made sure we stayed until we saw them. Ended up seeing a a few Blues, a couple Mako, some dolphins, and seals. The captains arrived on time at the pickup location, and we headed out a little after 8am. If they hire more staff it would be cool if they did a photo package or sold some merchandise, but other than that it was a fun trip! See more..
