  2. 5.0 The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant (561 reviews)
    - The most fascinating thing I saw during a week in Detroit.
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • Historic Sites
The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant image
Experience the Original Model T Factory Visiting the Piquette Avenue Ford Plant is a unique experience-it's the oldest auto plant open to the public anywhere in the world. Almost unchanged since Henry Ford's day, the plant is a three-story New England-style mill building. Each floor is divided into sections by the original metal fire doors, complete with the shadows of Henry Ford's "Positively NO Smoking" stencils. The old plank floors are worn from the 12,000 Model Ts built on them, so wear appropriate shoes for your visit. The plant is on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a designated National Historic Landmark and a Michigan State Historic Site. Walk the worn wood floors and touch the brick walls where Henry Ford and his team of automotive pioneers developed the car that led to an automotive and social revolution. See Henry Ford's office as it was in 1908 when he was on the cusp of fame. And learn why it still matters today. See a selection of rare Detroit-built cars from the first decade of the 20th century and learn their fates. See more..

  6. 4.5 Detroit RiverFront (1.468 reviews)
    - A Great Way to Experience Detroit!
    Piers & Boardwalks
    Detroit RiverFront image
After years of hearing how dirty and dangerous Detroit was, I was a little apprehensive about visiting, but knew that I wanted to experience the Motor City. I was completely surprised at how clean and safe the River Walk area and the downtown in general was. Detroit is a great city that is experiencing a renaissance (GM Renaissance Building pun not included) and I thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The Riverwalk is about 3 miles long and there is a nice, easy access parking lot at the corner of Rivard and Atwater Streets. The views of the Detroit River and Windsor, Canada are incredible. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area. See more..
  7. 4.5 Ford Field (866 reviews)
    - FIRST TIME FUN!!!!
    Arenas & Stadiums
    Ford Field image
I had never been to an NFL game until my daughter and beau planned this one. What a way to be introduced ....especially in an ENCLOSED stadium!!!! Terrific views from any level and no "nose-bleed" sections. Great to be in a city with rabid fans but I just found the seats a bit small and the beer excessively expensive .....just like all sports stadia (stadiums) which gouge the fans unnecessarily. 8. 4.5 The Guardian Building (744 reviews)
    - Beautiful Art Deco lobby
    Architectural Buildings
    The Guardian Building image
Just across the Riverwalk and the Hart Plaza is this beautiful old fashioned skyscraper. The entrance is around the corner, from a side street. It's a working office edifice and basically you can see only the lobby which is really an amazing work of art with its colorful tiles. The only thing that annoyed me was the security officer was following me all the time (of my 5 min I was there) asking me if I need something. See more..

  13. 4.5 Campus Martius Park (315 reviews)
    - A View of the Future
Sunday: 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM Neighborhoods • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
    Campus Martius Park image
Campus Martius Park is a great place to visit whether during a festival or event or just to take time and have lunch or sit with friends and talk. We especially like going ice skating there during the winter months. Whether during the day or in the evening the place is decorated in a lively and holiday fashion. The lines to rent ice skates usually move along quickly. It's a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise at the same time. From a historical point of view this crossroads has had its share of historical events which include the mustering of Union Troops, having them sign up and ship off to the east during the Civil War. There is a large monument commemorating the end of the Civil War and celebrating the heroes in all the departments of the military. It is quite impressive and should not be missed. It is one of those places that gives an immediate connection to the past while making room for a view of the future. See more..

What a gem on Belle Isle. The park around the museum is a bit downtrodden but the museum and lakefront itself were just thoroughly enjoyable. Many cool exhibits and artifacts and so much history! 26. 4.0 Little Caesars Arena (476 reviews)
    - LCA Continues to Impress!
Spent 2-3 hours Arenas & Stadiums
    Little Caesars Arena image
I've attended Piston and Red Wing events here and have been impressed with the ease of access, security, event staff etc. Everyone has been helpful and happy. The pregame and half time entertainment at the Pistons game has been excellent. I have only done the Gondola seating and highly recommend it if you are not scared of heights. Just make sure you sit in row 1 of not row 2. Row 1 is right on the glass to view down. Row 2 are high top seats which are more comfortable but if someone is in row 1 in front of you you will have an obstructed view. Food and beverage choices are vast but expensive. Bathrooms are abundant and clean. I suggest pre-booking parking to save because it can get pricey the closer you park to the LCA. Free Xfinity WiFi (just enter a bogus email). I have and will return.
