Something unique in the world, right in the Detroit / Windsor area
We were visiting Windsor, but wanted to see a couple of things in the Detroit area, and decided to use the connecting tunnel. It's seems that if you're connecting from downtown Detroit to downtown Windsor (or visa versa), this is the best route. But distance travellers, or those heading for the distant outskirts might be better advised to try the Ambassador Bridge. Our passage through the tunnel went smoothly, the toll fees are reasonable and easy to pay, and staff on both sides are friendly and efficient. Apparently this is the only vehicle tunnel in the world where you descend into it in one country, and emerge in another...

    Bus from Detroit to Windsor
We needed to get from Detroit to the Windsor Via Rail Train station. After researching and it seeming like Uber was not the easiest option because drivers might not be able to make the cross or might not want to, which would leave us spending time putting in the ride over and over until someone took us, we decided the bus would be cheaper and better. We got dropped off at the Ren Cen and walked behind the church. There is a covered bus stop, which is the last stop before crossing. The tunnel bus pulls up there and you pay the driver $5, the driver does not have change. The bus takes you through the tunnel and stops at the border at a special spot for buses. They let you off and you stand in a line just for the bus customers to go through immigration. The bus pulls around and waits for you and then takes you to the bus station or the casino. We got dropped off at the casino and called an Uber to go from there to the train station which ended up costing $12 Canadian dollars. All in all it was easier than I thought.
