My sister and I with our families recently did a Northern Lights trip with Steven during a vacation/bucket list trip to Fairbanks/North Pole. It was absolutely the highlight of our trip! We booked the multi-night option, and I'm so glad Steven recommended this. It was cloudy the first couple of nights, and Steven was great about contacting us each morning to let us know the forecast for the rest of our trip. On the third night, the forecast was clear, so we went for it. Steven picked us up at our Air BnB in a van that fit all 9 of us. We drove 30-45 mins outside of Fairbanks to a frozen lake that he was familiar with. As soon as we arrived, the skies lit up...it was unlike anything any of us had ever seen...remarkable! We loved that he is an expert photographer, and he got some fantastic shots of us. He also helped the one photographer in the group set up her camera and tripod to get the best shots. The rest of us used our iphones and actually got some decent pics too, although nowhere near the quality of what Steven did. We'd love to come back in the summertime for backcountry hiking with Steven, as he really knows the area quite well. See more..

    - The Milepost Travel Guide

Our journey was 44 days and 11292 miles of pure delight. Having the Milepost with us made It even more enjoyable. It is full of so much useful information. Landmarks, mountain and river names, forest fire history, historical sites, gas stations, restaurants, and on and on. It was such a huge part of our trip. I was the narrator while my husband drove and for the most part we really felt like we were learning something all the time. When we headed back east and no longer had that kind of information available we thought how nice it would be to have that kind of travel guide for all the roads we travel. See more..
  5. 4.5 The Knotty Shop (55 reviews)
    - Gotta Stop for the icecream and look around
Spent 1-2 hours Speciality & Gift Shops
    The Knotty Shop image
This is a very cool shop that I think gets overlooked because its on a highway, in the middle of a long straightway between Eilson AFB and Salcha. I prepare myself when coming back from the Salcha river, so I remenber to stop. The icecream is great! they have a lot of Alaskan souveniers and gifts that are unique and I don't think you see elsewhere. Remember to stop and get the icecream! See more..

"The most beautiful Park in Alaska," as many visitors have said. We offer a Cafe and Gift Shoppe, RV parking, hiking trails, pipeline views, cabin rental, 10 acres of museums, with the original Rika's Roadhouse, on the old Valdez to Fairbanks Trail. See where the original river crossing happened, by ferry, and explore the old 1900's roadhouse and museums with Alaskan artifacts and relics. For campers convenience, there is a dump-station on the grounds and clean restrooms. Our Cafe is on the grounds with delicious hot soups, sandwiches, reindeer sausage, coffee, home baked pies, ice-cream, soda, and more. Our Gift Shoppe offers Alaskan-made gifts of all kinds, ulus, souvenirs, vintage & antiques, and many more surprises! Park and Cafe/Gift Shoppe is open from May 8th - September 20th, 10-4pm daily. We can schedule buses, RV groups, van tours, and special groups, for lunch or morning coffee stops. Please call the listed number or email. Don't miss this Alaskan treasure! See more..
  7. 4.5 Sullivan Roadhouse Historical Museum (26 reviews)

    Sullivan Roadhouse Historical Museum image
We spent an afternoon leisurely looking over the authentic artifacts, displays and documents. We loved the history of the gold rush days. This roadhouse has an amazing story. The docent was friendly and gave us information on other places to visit while in Fairbanks specifically the large animal research center (my personal favorite). We did a self-guided walking tour of the outside implements used for the construction of the Alaska Highway. The roadhouse has overcome great odds to be a museum and is worth taking the time to see if you are in Delta Junction. See more..
