    - Wonderful, informative and reinforced with archeological sightseeing
Friday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours History Museums
    Mleiha Archaeological Centre image
Last week, I enjoyed The Archeological Tour at Maleiha with my kids. The tour started at the museum where everything was explained in a simplified way to suit all ages. After that, we visited the sites to view the palace, kitchen with farm, tombs and finally the fort. Honestly, I was astonished that such archeological sites were discovered and well preserved in the UAE. Special thanks to our wonderful and extremely knowledgeable tour guide Ayoob, who went the extra mile to make sure our tour was informative, comfortable and enjoyable. He was very patient with the children too. Highly recommended. See more..

    - A unique offroad experience

    Xquarry Adventure image
I had a fun time in the Xquarry. The park is designed to give 4x4 owners the chance to test the capabilities of their vehicle and their driving skills on a variety of unique obstacles. The park is staffed by friendly and knowledgeable offroad marshals who ensure everyone is driving safely. As an offroader, I enjoyed having so many different obstacles in a relatively compact area. I saw other experienced offroaders having a blast, as well as families putting their daily driver through the paces. It was a great way to spend the afternoon. See more..

  8. 5.0 Deep Blue Sea Diving Center (1 review)
    - They really went out of their way for us
    Scuba & Snorkelling
Deep Blue Sea Diving Center image
First, the dive Center is actually in Khor Fakkan, which is on the opposite side of the peninsula from Dubai. We made reservations in advance, and included in what they set up was a driver and car to come to our hotel in Dubai to pick us up, and take us to the dive center, then back at the end of the day. It's about a 2 hour trip each way. Two days before our scheduled day, there was a huge sand storm, and they couldn't dive that day or the next. They were afraid the Coast Guard would not let them dive on our day. However, the afternoon before, they got approval. Maria at the dive center kept us informed at every turn. The diving itself is very nice. It's not Cozumel or French Polynesia, but there is a good amount of sea life. The entire staff was very good, and quite attentive. We had our own gear, but the rental gear others had looked to be in good shape. Again the five star rating was earned by the entire staff, both shore staff, and those on the boat. Maria De Luna in particular could not have been better about making sure everything went as planned, even when circumstances tried to interfere. Finally some of the older reviews refer to dives in Dubai itself. I learned the company used to have operations in bothDubai, and Khor Fakkan. They've since split into two companies. Everything about the Khor Fakkan operation seems very good. The older reviews, that were less favorable, seem to center on the Dubai experiences. See more..

  11. 5.0 Al Maidan Motorcycle Rental (1 review)
    - Good active fun place and quite popular
    Friday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Off-Road & ATV Trails
    Al Maidan Motorcycle Rental image
PROS * Unique one-of-a-kind experience in the Arabian Desert * Dozens of all types of motorized vehicles- ATV and quad bike * Fun rental adventure * Explore the wild open wilderness * Option to have a falcon (the UAE national bird and symbol) perch on your head- for a fee- is this a pro or a con?? * Free bathrooms CONS * An expensive adventure * Crowded- probably all desert tours from Dubai stop here * Store has local attire and souvenir "stuff" for sale * Option to have a falcon (the UAE national bird and symbol) perch on your head- for a fee- is this a pro or a con?? "I VISITED THIS PLACE"... ... as part of my Dubai Desert tour. It is located a good distance out of the city- only 20 minutes or less from the Oman border. I was happy that i came here and I enjoyed watching others ride the bikes- there were dozens of motorized vehicle streaming across the desert for as far to the horizons as the eye could see. The store was busy and super crowded. I was interested in a kendura, ghoutra and iqel and the seller inside (a non Emirati) offered a price 10x what I paid in Gift Village. When I declined, he immediately lowered the price to 5x. The bathrooms are acceptable given the desert location and the constant use after riding the ATVs and experiencing the desert ADVICES * Your tour will most certainly stop here, so get out and enjoy * Ride if you'd like; watch and enjoy the atmosphere and views if not. * See my "helpful" photos here, including one of an anonymous older couple trying to operate an ATV while the man reads his cell phone. I have 9 or 10 photos of the scene of dozens of riders in the desert, but that was posted to the Dubai Desert entry, and I can't move it to here (my only option is "delete"). See more..

    Al Noor Island image
Al Noor is a sanctuary in Sharjah meant for all ages. We visited on a weekday at around noon and so there were only a few guests around making it extra quiet and tranquil. Art, cultural and recreational facilities were carefully curated to enhance the park's sanctuary vibe. One can walk around the island and experience everything in 2-3 hours. Tix's are good the whole day and some guests return at night to see the dispkays again in their lighted regalia. The highlight is the Butterfly House which contained exotic butterflies from other parts of he world. Our host, Archie, expertly showed us the different types and pointed out unique qualities and behavior of each. He also showed pupae in various stages of metamorphosis. Another host was Mark who was doubling as barista at the coffee shop. He shared some photo shooting hacks when using phone cameras and we ended up with great photos. Kudos to two outstandibg hosts.
