Maritime Museum, Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates

4.5 (224 reviews) Friday: 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Spent Ranking #11 in Sharjah Speciality Museums

Small but neat

This museum is small but I got a feeling they will be adding to it soon. The ticket is 25 dirhams (roughly a bit more than 7 dollars), which includes this museum and the aquarium right next to it. The museum is neat, I learned a lot about the history of Persian Gulf and pearl trading. It even features the oldest pearl in the world! Very much worth seeing, I highly recommend this place.

Sharjah Museum is a good place to visit for family and kids , is a relatively small location and can be covered quickly.
This Museum is located right next to the Sharjah Aquarium, ticket can be taken from the aquarium counter. The Musuem is a large hall with several displays of boats , fishing material and historical imagery. There are mini-display videos explaining Sharjah maritime history , fishing life and the boats. The location is actually small and can be covered in a shorter time , compared to the aquarium next door.

It is a very good museum!
The museum is above expectation precisely as a museum: there is surprisingly good, professionally selected set of artifacts accompanied by extremely useful (and concise) explanations in English. Add to this quite well organized exposition in a relatively small space. I do not know why this museum is largely unknown. We came from Dubai to visit is and the visit was worth every minute. Highly recommended.
