Needless to say you need to be very fit it includes both a 1500 meter plus ascent and descent ...the hike is about 15-18km round trip distance ...incline mostly ....the hike duration is 8-10 hours ...the hike starts not far away from the dam side ....Important notice !!! ....many people fell to their death here ....fit and pro needed ....it’s called “stairs ways to heaven” .....the second hiking path is at the dam site and it’s easier than the first this one 12km and 5-6 hours ....get to the top and get a chance to see a breathtaking view See more..

The dam was largely empty given that we have had so little rainfall in 2020. The first hour (depending on how quickly you climb the steps - 51 floors as per IPhone count) is the most challenging part of the walk. Once you reach the top, the rest of the walk is relatively easier although you do get some loose stones to test your balance / agility. We started at 3pm and came down at 5.30pm. Captured some lovely sunset pictures. There are places to rest / sit along the way. Perfect for winter weather and for those with a sense of outdoor adventure. Sadly no sign boards to give some directions. The car park has toilets (not the best) and a camping area. There is a small shop too. See more..

We had visited the mall in the evening and the mall was well lit, giving it a rich aroma of the Arabian culture. Unlike the crowded mall of the Dubai and Abu Dhabi, this one seemed a perfect spot for a slight relaxation out of the hustle and bustle of the city. The interior architecture and ambience were mood up-lifter, so was the hospitality of the staffs working there. There were pretty good food option to fill your tummy and in the winters I would definitely recommend people to take the outdoor dining to enjoy your meal with the cool breeze. See more..

A really nice small little museum that has been established inside an old fort. The museum gives you an great insight in to the histroy of RAK starting from as back as 5000 BC. The best part is that despite being in a very old building, the musuem is 100% accesible with ramps for all stairs as well as to go on the second floor. A few areas of the musuem are still under development yet there is plenty to see. The rooftop view is oretty nice and you can get a nice burds eye view of RAK. The staff is very nice, courteous, and very helpful. The tour is ended with a complimentary Arabian coffee. Parking is plenty and very convenient. The Google Maps however keeps on sending you in loops so just look at the map once and make sense as to where the entrance is. See more..

With mountains to the east and palm oases disappearing into the sea on the west, it’s a great viewing spot for both sunset and sunrise. With kid-friendly steps leading to the top directly from a decent sized parking lot, it ticks many family-friendly boxes. In RAK for a couple of days and found this place on a general internet search. So we drove there and paid the 20aed to park inside as i have broken achillies tendon, (you can park outside and walk in for free). The rides were all working and varied from kids stuff to adult only white knuckle types! Staff seemed a bit bored as the park was quiet, but chatting to them they stated weekends are busy and in wint2et its hectic. The grounds are well kept and clean and prices are reasonable. Worth a visit but bring a picnic as covid has closed concession stands for the time being. See more..

After a relaxing day on the beach at The Sailing Club, with excellent beach service by Vivian and Tint taking care of our F&B needs, a margarita seemed like the right way to watch the sunset. Vivian makes a stunning margarita in true Mexican style - it’s more like a martini than a large frozen or on-the-rocks drink as the rest of the world has come to know it. You can always add more sweet and sour and/or put it on ice or have it frozen but this was the closest to the first margarita I ever had in Mexico some 40 years ago. Vivian, you rocked it! We had two. My husband had to add ice and more sweet and sour but those margaritas brought me back to the Caribbean here in RAK on a Middle East sunset afternoon. See more..

Its an old port town near RAK. More can be found about the history of this town/surrounding areas from the RAK Museum. You can definitely enjoy the ambiance of how an fishing village in the Arabian peninsula used to be like a few centuries back. This town can have a creepy feeling if you visit it at night. During day time the wind does create some creepy sounds, but the speaking of pushtoon and seraiki labourers working closeby reduces the impact.
