  1. 5.0 Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (1.410 reviews)
    - Challenging hike and amazing gorilla experience
Friday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Bwindi Impenetrable Forest image
A gorilla trek is a real once in a lifetime (and expensive) experience for most and Bwindi is a great place to do it. It was quite an adventure just to get to the registration office for the Rushaga sector of the park (there are two others) from where we were staying at Mutanda Lake Lodge: a hair raising 1.5 hour drive on steep rutted mud roads with a sheer drop and in the dark! Once you arrive you are allocated to trek to one of the 9 gorilla families in the sector. Each one varies in difficulty, depending on where the trackers believe each family is likely to be as they move each day. Each trek has up to 8 participants with a guide and a couple of rangers. Most are in the medium difficulty range, which we said we would prefer. We ended up trekking for around 4.5 hours, excluding the hour we got to spend with 'our' family of 9. Others I spoke to took anything from 2.5 hours to 10. I can't recommend hiring a porter, for a min payment of $15, highly enough. As well as carrying your backpack they will help you on the hike and and there are steep up and downs and stream crossings in virgin forest that the guide needs to hack through with his machete to make passable. It was quite challenging and I really appreciated my porters assistance. The actual gorilla experience is amazing and the hour goes too quickly. You do get to be amazingly close to these wonderful creatures. They are often quite curious and will pass right beside you and perhaps pull on your clothing. See more..
  2. 5.0 Gorillas and Wildlife Safaris (394 reviews)
    - 12 day safari in Uganda
Friday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Tours
    Gorillas and Wildlife Safaris image
Just a month before deciding for holidays, we decided to visit Uganda. We have contacted several agencies, GWS replied fastest and were most detailed. We could choose any arrival and departure dates. Our itinerary (28 pages) was made according to our wishes, very active from the first day onwards. Everything worked: accommodation, schedules and local rangers. We must praise our guide Ahmed Kizza, who was superb: knowing everyone, meticulous, knowledgeful and a master of 4x4 driving. Our circular trip started in Entebbe and then we drove to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchinson Falls NP, Kibale NP, Queen Elizabeth NP, Maramagambo Forest, Bwindi NP, Lake Bunyonyi, Lake Mburo and ended back in Entebbe. I estimate we covered more than 2.000km so count on many hours on roads that sometimes don't deserve a name. In addition to the standard activities, don't miss mongoose tracking. See more..
  3. 5.0 Murchison Falls (373 reviews)
    - The power!
Friday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Waterfalls
    Murchison Falls image
We took a trip to the top of Murchison Falls on our way out of Murchison Falls NP and on the last day of our trip in Uganda. It was an absolutely fitting end to a spectacular trip. The power of the waterfall is immense, and when you are standing at the top and getting soaked in the spray thrown up from the rapids you get a real sense of this. The sights are amazing. Simply a must-see on your way to or from Murchison Falls National Park See more..
  4. 5.0 Mgahinga Gorilla National Park (183 reviews)
    - Experience of a lifetime!
    National Parks
    Mgahinga Gorilla National Park image
We trekked in to see the ‘Silver back’ gorillas and were successful in seeing nine gorillas in total in the family including males, females and young ones. We enjoyed the young group of entertainers doing their national song/dance before departing for the trek as well. Our trackers did a great job, the ‘porters’ were very helpful carrying our gear and helping on the difficult parts of the trail, and our ranger/guide was extremely knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this adventure to anyone interested! See more..

I booked "6 Days Uganda Safari, Gorillas, Wildlife and Chimpanzee" from their website directly with Insight Safari Holidays. Calah did a great job organizing the trip and Nasser was the best guide you can ever imagine. Thank you very much again for this great experience! We saw Chimps, Gorillas, and the famous tree-climbing lions in Ishasha - more than I had hoped for before the trip! Payment by credit card to their bank in Uganda was smooth and efficient as well. - Fascinating and fun

    Uganda Crater Lakes Tours image
We did the Crater Lake Tour with Noah who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and taught us a huge amount, not just about the crater lakes but also the surrounding area, the local wildlife, the culture and people, and also the vanilla plantations. The scenery in the area is amazing and very photogenic. It was really nice to take a gentle walk around the craters and woods in the area. The vanilla plantation in particular was fascinating as Noah gave us a glimpse in what goes into producing vanilla. See more..

    Nkuringo Walking Safaris image
My brother, friend Henry and my self had been dreaming of seeing mountain gorillas since we were 13 years old. It was the MOST incredible experience of our lives. I highly recommend going the extra mile and booking the un-habituated gorillas as it's more intimate. Our guide, Patrick Yiga was such a legend- picking us up at 5am and being so accommodating in getting us from A-B. He knows so much about them and made our experience mega! Will be doing it again 100%. See more..

  11. 5.0 Ride 4 A Woman (77 reviews)
    - Wonderful Women's Project, with so much to take away.
Cultural Tours • Lessons & Workshops • Gear Rentals • Day Trips
    Ride 4 A Woman image
What an uplifting experience! Meeting the wonderful women who work in this cooperative, hearing how they have grown from 4 bikes to hire to emloying over 6o local women and seeing the weaving, sewing and ironing that produce fabulous clothes, bags, table mats and more, was just so wonderful. We came away with an enormous bag full of such colourful items, all handmade around us. If we had more time, we would have stayed to be shown how to cook a typical Ugandan meal (and eat it!), and I would have loved to have stayed a night or two in their lodges. Situated in the centre of town, and just a short drive to the Inpenetrable Forest where the gorillas live, this would be a great place to stay to experience local life and go gorilla treking while helping local women along the way. A real Must See if you are in the vicinity. See more..
  12. 5.0 Wild Whispers Africa (77 reviews)
    - Unforgettable Uganda
Boat Tours • Sightseeing Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Day Trips
    Wild Whispers Africa image
I had a fabulous vacation with Wild Whispers Africa - did 6 days of safari, chimps tracking and gorilla tracking. First of all they are incredibly organized and Racheal answered all of my concerns, changed the dates when needed and was super helpful. The lodges where I stayed were absolutely beautiful and I was very positively suprised. I also very much liked the itinerary they prepared as everyday I had some time for myself to rest and relax. The guide Jacob was so knowledgeable about everything and I would not spot half of the animals if not him. Also he tried extra hard to find the lions when even I gave up already. The gorilla tracking doesn’t need even a comment - it’s an experience of a lifetime. I totally recommend Wild Whispers Africa and I was so happy with my choice as it’s not the easy one. See more..
  13. 5.0 Kori Safaris (76 reviews)
    - Amazing trip in Uganda
Safaris • Nature & Wildlife Tours
    Kori Safaris image
I 100% recommend Kori Safaries to organize your Ugandan trip directly without intermediaries. They are transparent in pricing and very straightforward with the options that make more sense according to time and budget. We made a 1 week trip with Isaac as our driver/guide and I think that made a big difference. Not only he was able to drive safely through rough roads but he also was able to answer all our questions and could help us solve some minor issues with local people. It was our first trip to Africa and we wanted to leave few space for improvising, I think we got it. Thanks so much for your kindness! See more..

    Trek Rwenzori Tours image
Trek Rwenzori Tours took great care of us during our whole trip across Uganda, from the moment we landed, when Emmanuel, the owner, and John, our driver and guide, picked us up from the airport, to our departure. They arranged our visit to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where we did a gorilla trekking, our stay at Lake Bunyonyi, where we visited the Batwa and Abahesi peoples, and our transfer to Kampala. The hotels and meals they arranged for us where all great, as well as the local guides that supported our visits. We would repeat and contract their services if we ever have the chance to return to Uganda See more..

    Hidden Gems of Uganda image
Just returned from an amazing trip around Uganda and spent our final 4 days with Deo. He was recommended from a previous traveller and I’m so glad I went with my gut and booked him. Deo is very passionate about his country, his people and showing what he can and all it has to offer. He was all ours for the last 4 days of our journey and made sure our needs were met at all times. Due to his meticulous planning, everything was taken care of, even down to an issue we had with our accommodation, he helped sort it and got us moved to an unbelievable stay when it wasn’t even he’s problem. Travelling from Lake Bunyonyi to Kibale, we stopped onroute at a child’s orphanage where we had a beautiful greeting, dancing and a walk up to the most amazing view! A must visit here to support the people who run this orphanage. He joined us on our chimp trek ( we had the best chimp watching), and at Bigodi Wetlands walk, both had great, knowledgable guides and it was nice seeing Deo enjoying the time too. He’s pineapple cutting skills went down a treat when we needed a ‘pick me up’ treat. Deliciously fresh. Nothing is too much trouble for Deo. If you’re happy, he is happy. Thank you Deo for being there and planning our last days for us. 100% recommend! See more..

    Nkuruba Community Tours image
Julius And his staff are very kind and professional. The cottage was great and we've enjoyed looking at the monkeys that visit the camp everyday. You can see they put a lot of thought in the place like the hot water in the room and the gazibo looking at the lake (which also had outlets!) We highly recommend not just for the place but also for the kind people who work there See more..
  23. 5.0 Batwa Trail (24 reviews)
    - Incredible experience - great to experience and aupport
Friday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Hiking Trails
    Batwa Trail image
Highly recommend this experience. While the cost initially may seem high at $80 (though not high compared to gorilla trekking at $1500), it’s absolutely worth it and the funds go to a very good place - supporting the Batwa communities, who have been oppressed for quite some time. It’s a 3-hour experience, and the energy and excitement with which the Batwa share their culture, including making a fire from scratch, plenty of song and dance, a very cool cave at the end, is spectacular. It’s also a very pleasant walk through a beautiful jungle. See more..

    - Definitely a must in Biwindi
Friday: 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM Cultural Tours • Walking Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Day Trips
    Batwa Activity Center image
The Batwa experience was amazing, we were not expecting to do anything after the gorilla trecking but our guide mentioned about this local tour. The history of the batwa is super interesting and visiting them means visiting a part of Uganda history, everyone should take this opportunity. Julius is doing a great job with the community and supporting him is very fulfilling. This is not the typical touristic theatre, this is real and probably the most authentic way of visiting an African tribe. See more..

    Kazinga Channel image
We took a three-hour tour on the Kazinga channel and had an amazing experience seeing and watching the wildlife up and down the channel. Huge numbers of Elephants including a herd that came down to the channel with their very small calves and allowed us to get relatively close for a look. Lots of Buffalo and Hippo too as well as warthog, bushbuck, waterbuck, and a Giant Forest Hog. Crocodile too and loads of birds including kingfishers, stork, ibis, herons, bee-eaters and skimmers. The guide was excellent at both spotting interesting wildlife as well as telling us all about them and the location. Thoroughly recommend. See more..

Great service....,it was our first time in Uganda, me and wife booked a wildlife tour to Murchison falls National Park, at the time of inquiry, we received a shift reply from Exceptional Uganda Gorilla safaris team, responsing quickly to all our questions. Gerald who was our guide made the entire Murchison Falls tour exceptional ,,, trust me we don't regret every dollar spent on our trip, the quality service we got right away from the time of arrival at the Entebbe airport until the end of the safari was morethan worthy our money. I recommend this company to anyone planning a Uganda safari this season!!! Cheers Charlotte Favor See more..

    - Fantastic experience of chimpanzee habituation
Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Kibale Forest National Park image
We met our guide Sarah at 7 am and we’re off to trek for chimpanzees for the habituation activity. Sarah was a very knowledgeable and friendly ranger who knew exactly how to track them and so we found a family within an hour. We then got a full three hours of watching them sleep, eat, pee and poop on people ;-), feed young ones, groom each other and swing around the trees. Finally we also got to follow some which were going for walks. It was a fantastic experience in a small group ( 6 people). We learned so much and Sarah answered all our questions in detail. Waterfall Cruises - Murchison Falls image
We had a boat trip to the bottom of the falls. We could hear a thunderous sound from far with seemingly smog in the sky. A hike to the bottom of the falls made our trip unforgettable as we clearly witnessed the river waters plunging 45 ft down making a loud sound compared to thunder! See more..
  30. 4.5 Kanyanchu Visitor Center (216 reviews)
    - Fantastic Chimp Trek Experience!
    Spent 2-3 hours Visitor Centers
    Kanyanchu Visitor Center image
Our small group of six stood looking at an Alpha Male Chimp sunning himself for about 25 minutes, high up in a tree very close to the Visitor Centre. I asked the armed ranger whether this would be our hour-long experience, and she smiled, shrugged and said we must be patient. Then the chimp swung it's way down the tree and set off through the jungle, and our group followed. The chimp hopped on to a wooden walkway, and we all scrambled on behind him. Then he just turned round, and walked through our little group. What a moment! A little scary, but unforgetable. We followed him up an a track, and watched him climb a tree and resume his sun bathing. Then we saw a female with a baby chimp nearby, again, high up a tree. All in all, wonderful experience, and so highly recommended. Such a privilege. See more..
