    Kidepo Valley National Park image
This park is amazingly un tampered or commercialised, It has on of Idi Amin's legacies , Katurum Lodge, You need many days here as it is vast and some routes can be difficult if rained. The UWA rangers here ($20/half day) are well worth it, they know the place inside out, and are immensely knowledgably about routes, animals, habits etc. They deserve to be supported. See more..

    Kara-Tunga Arts & Tours image
For the fourt time I have visited the beatiful land of the Karamoja, with its beautiful people. For the second time I joined the Tour of Karamoja, the 7-day cycling trip through the hills and valleys in Iganda and Kenya. The tour is the ultimate combination of physical endurance, teamwork ánd many interesting and beautiful encounters with the proud inhabitants of this area. We were welcomed with dance and songs, rituals and laughter. It was really impressive. KaraTunga’s team, led by Theo, is a strong group of really hardworking people who were able to show hospitality even under rough conditions. I really want to say Arakara Nooi to KaraTunga for the great experience the have created! Hope to see you soon! See more..

Gloria is an amazing tour guide, travel agent and friend. We organized several trips (safari, shuttles, domestic flights) during our stay in gulu through her and became great friends. She is trustworthy, flexible, organized, offers great prices and has amazing knowledge about Gulu and Uganda in general. You will get deep knowledge about history, animals, etc. when going on tour with her. It will propably feel like family after a short time. Also her driver Noc is an amazing person and great driver (which is very convenient on Ugandas bumpy roads). You won't regret booking with Loremi Tours!!! See more..

Our guide Paul gave us a half-day trip on lower levels of Mount Moroto. Great experience! The view was fantastic, even if we didn't go up to the top, and we got a glimpse of the living conditions of people living there. Paul is open, super-friendly and well informed. He is also very committed to improving lives of local communities through different initiatives. Tours are organized based on your personal interests at a fair price. Highly recommended! See more..

    - A fantastic opportunity for beautiful gifts in Gulu
    Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
    Wawoto Kacel Cooperative Society image
Our group had a wonderful visit to Wawoto Kacel. The cooperative's members make beautiful, excellent quality products. Amani's quality is slightly better, but Wawoto Kacel has a much larger variety of items for purchase. Wawoto's specialty is the finely detailed paper beads. They are so beautiful and so durable that it is hard to believe that they are made of paper, but they are. Other items include handbags, clothes, decorative items, holiday items... too much to mention. Definitely worth a visit while in Gulu. See more..

  13. 5.0 Bibi Akiki Craft Shop (1 review)
    - Well stocked craft shop, broad selection from trinkets to seriously beautiful items
    Thursday: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
We wanted to find the beautiful 'stools' carved from a single piece of wood that we had seen Karamojong men sitting on. But where? This shop had them!! Amongst a broad but regular selection of (generally really nice) touristy items, this shop also stocks more rare finds. Definitely a place to visit when in Moroto or in the region. Pleasant and knowledgeable owner. Reasonable prices. The shop is still young so may not have a sign yet. See more..
  14. 5.0 Aruu Falls, Achwa River (1 review)
    - Worth a Visit
    Points of Interest & Landmarks

    - Incredible place, high quality souvenirs. A must visit in Gulu.
    Thursday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
    Amani Ya Juu image
I can't believe there are no other reviews of this place on TripAdvisor yet! Amani is a workshop, collective, refuge and wonderful shop. If you've stopped at the Kabalega Diner on your way north, you've already seen the magnificent goods these women produce. The women of Amani have come from exceptionally difficult backgrounds. They work together to make beautiful products that represent their culture and that appeal to visitors. When you stop in, Simprosa will tell you her story, and the women there will share their experiences with you. Then you have a chance to shop their beautiful creations. For visitors to Uganda, this is a must-see. Items for sale include all kinds of purses and bags, table linens, toys and decorations, jewelry, holiday items and much more. See more..

TRP is a gem among the Gulu community, offering intentional activities like team building exercises, outdoor activities, and yes rock climbing! Not only is this an amazing program that serves the underserved, they offer recreational activities for visitors that are so much fun! The profits go right back into the programs TRP has for the underserved in town. It's an amazing way to spend a day, and it helps the community at the same time! See more..

One of the largest churches in Uganda. The architecture and history are worth the trip. Try to go on Sunday so you can see the mural on the ceiling inside as well as the two Bishops that are preserved in the church. Very interesting place with lots of local history. Make sure you go with someone who can tell you all about the history! See more..
  20. 4.5 Kidepo Valley National Park (3 reviews)
    - Big Game & Wild Place
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
We loved going to Kedepo Valley National Park. At first, we thought it was too far from Entebbe / Kampala. But actually, it was easy (only 1.5 hr flight) and once we were there it was so remote and wild. Stunning savannahs, lots of wild animals and birds, and worth every penny in time and expense. 21. 4.0 Fort Patiko - Baker's Fort (31 reviews)
    - Ghosts from a dark past
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
Fort Patiko - Baker's Fort image
These ruins and giant rocks were the place of horrendous activities and witness the arab slave trade. People from the north of Uganda were abducted and gathered to this place where slave traders would decide of their fate : to be beheaded or to continue an endless trip to Egypt/Middle east by feet. The British took possession of the place claiming the will to end this shameful business, only to colonize the country a few years later. It was on Sunday, no guide around, and an old drunkard from a village, carrying a machete, followed us and insisted to be our guide. unfortunately, this place is very much unknown and quite abandoned by the ministry of tourism. 22. 4.0 Aruu Falls Camspite (12 reviews)
    - A series of waterfalls
Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Aruu Falls Camspite image
A waterfall is spectacular any day. Water coming off an edge falling and crashing into rocks or just more water below. This is where Aruu Falls makes the break. It is not one falls but a series of 5 falls, horizontally arranged (not vertical) and each one more beautiful than the one before. Walking from one waterfall to the next is an act of bravery. The sight of the next waterfall is its own reward. We never managed to see the fifth waterfall as the guide said it was too slippery to get to. Would love to visit these falls again with a drone mounted camera. The guide and the campsite crew are very professional. Safety first. We didn’t stay the night or eat here. See more..
  23. 4.0 BJz Bar & Grill (1 review)
    - Great fun, interesting place.
    Thursday: 7:00 PM - 5:00 AM Bars & Clubs • Dance Clubs & Discos • Wine Bars
Been going to BJz once a year while visiting Gulu for 5 years. A great outdoor bar experience. Good security and feels safe. They have a Thursday “trivia night” in English where you team up with friends to answer world and media trivia and can win prizes such as rounds of drinks, cases of beer, etc. I think it starts about 10 PM. There are usually a dozen or so Gulu based “foreigners” which are some of the only fare skinned people you ever see in Gulu, but the crowd is obviously going to be 90% local Ugandans. The music can be too loud, but the beer is cheap and the atmosphere friendly. Love the place. See more..
