   Op een landelijk erg drukke en warm-zonnige februari dag wandelden we langs het riviertje de Devel. Het kleine oude Kijfhoek kerkje is een bezoekje zeker waard. Het gebied met dit kerkje ligt in het landelijke gebied tussen Zwijndrecht en Heerjansdam.

   This is a small nature reserve west of suburban Zwijndrecht towards Kijfhoek. You can cycle or walk through, following a creek with some birdlife. Particularly beautiful in spring when rapeseed, marsh marigold and buttercup bloom. See more..

   There is no record about at what exact time the church was built. Probably in the 1300s a church at this location served the Christian community of Heer Oudelands Ambacht. This village does not longer exist. During the 1400s there was a reconstruction. Interesting is the name Pieterman. Possibly Pieter was the name of the 'schout' (public official in charge of security) in Heer Oudelands Ambacht. In a village community a 'schout' was often called 'huisman'. 17th Century Pieterman was the owner of a nearby inn. See more..

   Voor alle leeftijden iets leuks. Vooral de afgesloten ruimte met tafels voor de kleintjes tot ong 2 jaar is goed geregeld. Was er toen er niemand was. Dus geen idee hoe het is als het druk is, maar wij vinden het in elk geval erg leuk! See more..

   The park is located along the banks of the Devel river. It is just under 2 km west of Zwijndrecht railway station. The park has the form of a horseshoe, actually an old meander of the Devel. I like the tall trees providing shade during the summer. Also good to visit in spring or autumn. See more..
