Zandvort is to Amsterdam what Brighton is to London--a large seaside resort easily reached by train. It takes half an hour to get there from Central Station. It has a long sandy beach and, in common with the rest of the Netherlands coastline, an expanse of sandy dunes which serve to protect the low lying country from the sea. In the summer months, beach bars catering to all tastes line this beach. It is also the site of the Netherlands' most important car racing circuit.

Ninety percent of the timme I've had the mmost unfortunate clothes shopping experiences in Zandvoort NL - ranging fromm indifference to being totally ignored SO I amm quite happy to rave about yesterday's visit at BoHo Chic on Kerkstraat 32 in Zandvoort!!! I tooked notice of a sales rack loaded with clothing situated on the leftside of the front door. Mmy husband & I wandered inside. The owner - Brenda, was presently occupied with another custommer. Once done, she gave mme her full attention & was very friendly, easily engaged and helpful!!! A refreshing change from mmy past experiences of feeling almmost invisible or business not in the least bit wanted! The store is small, but tidily organized with a quality and not overly-expensive mmerchandise. We passed by on our way fromm the beach to catch our bus back to Ammsterdam NL. So if you are wandering up & down the Kerkstraat (& if not - mmake the side trip to do so) I would recommend a stop at BoHo Chic for an addition to your women's wardrobe. Found the place by chance - getting off the train from Amsterdam on a Sunday afternoon, not having done the homework, we were cruising around the place looking for a bike rental. After two unsuccessful tries (all bikes were rented out), stumbled over this place. It is right next to the train station in fact - straight up the stairs from central exit, behind the first line of surf shops. it is very efficient. As it was sunny summer day we were by far one of the many city dwellers and tourists looking for a nice afternoon riding along the seacoast. when we came it was fairly late (after noon), there was a big queue - and the rental consultant managed it in a brisk way. The place is handy - they have a shop there with pretty much everything you might need for a day on the beach: swimming suits, towels, sunscreen, etc.. The bikes park is quite extensive, as even with our timing we still managed to get two bikes. Best bet - book them beforehand, online. Instructions fast and brisk, you need id to rent, and you are pretty much all set and ready to go. We paid 8 Euros per bike for the day (to be returned before 6 pm) - which made sense economically for us living in Amsterdam - if we were to bring our own bikes on the train, we would have paid 6 Euro per bike one way - so it was 8 vs. 12. Very friendly service, English, German speaking - as said, they are efficient, fast and to the point. Bikes in excellent condition, we had a great day riding in the dunes and along the coast. Went here for the first time mainly for the beach. Even though it was late in the season, I did manage to get 4 days out of 8 on the beach,at least for part of the day. The beach is super clean with plenty of space. The pavilions were all closing down for the winter and only Havana at the start and Fosfor, the furthest one, were still open. I was surprised how many people were on the nudist part, some of them even in the water, but it was good to have some freedom after all the travel restrictions over the last couple of years. Played this as part of a 3 round golf holiday around Amsterdam. This was the first course we played and set a high bar. The course has great character and some very testing holes. The greens were very true. EUR100 for visitors was good value. There are 3 nines - we played Pennick/Colt courses from the yellow tees and this proved a good, fair challenge for us 11 handicappers. It was the perfect birthday gift for my bf! I bought the "Ultimate Race Experience" for him which included the followings: - Ford Mustang Drifttaxi (only CoPilot but you will enjoy it for sure! ;) - Formula race car (I'm not sure but probably with Renault engine, a good one) - Drifting with a Renault Clio RS - Quarter Mile with a Dodge Charger (actually 2, you drive both of them) ...lunch... - BMW 130i Cup - Porsche 911 - Slalom with a Suzuki Swift (Sport) - Gokart - 4x4 Suzuki Jimny offroad - Lamborghini Gallardo OR Ferrari F430 - Aston Martin V8 - some round with our own car This is exactly how our program looked like, I think there are always some changes. It is an all-day experience, it took about 8 hours or so, but of course in most of your time you listen to the intsructors and wait for the other participants. The lunch was included (sandwich). The track wasn't small, actually I think it was quite long. The staff was extremely nice, we talked with them a lot and in the end, they let us drive our own car on the track! One of the Mustang drivers were leading us, letting us give gas and drifting. It was also a huge experience! :) I can only advise to every car-lover to try this experience! See more..

We visited this small museum last week. It was quite interesting but had very little information in English except a short video which gave the history of the place. Quite a lot (too much) of the 'museum' was given over to an art exhibition about gay pride. No problem with that but not sure we would have paid to go in if we had realised that quite so much of the museum was, in reality, an art space. See more..

We were staying at Haarlem and visited Zandvoort Aan Zee by taking the short train ride. This is a small ststion with only 2 platforms and located a short walk from the beach.
