-Visit to 1944 Sites Where My Father Served
Historical & Heritage Tours • Private Tours
Whilst a full day specialist tour might seem expensive it was in reality excellent value for money. Edwin had done considerable research in advance of where my father's unit had been which together with his detailed knowledge of the overall battlefield actions brought the whole experience to life. In the afternoon we went from point to point following exactly where my father had been in 1944 culminating in identifying the exact buildings where his unit had had it's field hq and from where he had been in action against a German patrol. I plan to return and bring younger family members to experience the same tour. See more..

- 4.5 Van Gogh Village Nuenen (163 reviews)
-Must See Village
Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour History Museums
The village of Nuenen is also known as Van Gogh Village, and rightly so. There isn’t a place in the Netherlands where you can tread in the footsteps of this famous painter quite so literally. Here, stories about Van Gogh are still vividly told, his letters are available for reading, and there are no fewer than fourteen locations which have been immortalised by Van Gogh in a picture or a painting. Experiencing Van Gogh’s life in the Netherlands so intensely is not possible anywhere else. “The museum is a gem” In the Vincentre museum you will hear all about Van Gogh and read his own stories about Nuenen, where he lived and worked from 1883 to 1885. Who was he, how did he live, who did he socialise with, and why was he so passionate about Nuenen? It will all become clear during an educational tour with an audio guide in no fewer than eight languages: Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese and Chinese. In the village itself, no fewer than 23 locations have a direct link with Van Gogh. Together, they form a walking and cycling route with interactive informational signs in Dutch and English. From The Potato Eaters to The Starry Night The Potato Eaters is based on a scene that Van Gogh saw at the house of a peasant family in Nuenen. It literally comes to life in theatre Het Klooster. The world famous designer Daan Roosegaarde designed, based on Van Gogh’s The Starry Night, the now famous and unique Van Gogh-Roosegaarde cycle path, for which thousands of twinkling stones were incorporated in the asphalt. This cycle path, between Nuenen and the nearby city of Eindhoven, is part of the Van Gogh Cycle Route. Heritage locations in Brabant This cycle route connects the five Van Gogh heritage locations in Brabant, which of course include Nuenen. You won’t get any closer to Van Gogh than this. Or, as one of our enthusiastic guests wrote about Nuenen: “The same view that Van Gogh had!” Come and experience the place in which Van Gogh was inspired by the rural... See more..

-A 'must' visit
Spent 2-3 hours History Museums
Have just written a review of here under the house name, so please forgive me for being repetitive! This is an excellent and informative museum outlining the life of Vincent Van Gough in a contemporary format over 4 floors of the house. I would suggest taking the audio tour if you do not speak Dutch as floors 1-3 are not bi-lingual. There really is something for everything and older children would find plenty to see and do...if in the area a 'must' visit well worth 7.5 euros. See more..
- 4.5 Van Gogh Outdoor Museum - Guided Walking Tour (9 reviews)

This tour is all done by volunteers and they are really very knowledgeable about Van Gogh. We have walked around the small village of Nuenen and they showed us the places that Van Gogh painted in his paintings. Van Gogh painted the famous Potato Eaters in Nuenen. It is also a lovely town with nice houses and gardens so it definetely worths the visit especially if you like art or Van Gogh paintings and learn more about where he got his inspiration from. -MORE VAN GOGH NOSTALGA
Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
Another piece of Van Gogh nostalga is the windmill that famously features in a few of his paintings on the edge of Nuenen. It is a 10 minute walk out of the town centre but is not open to the public as it is on private land. However, there is a small car park to the side where you can stand and get great photos up close or take them from the roadside. See more..

-Great little zoo
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Zoos
We spent about 4 hours here, but it would have been about 3 if the weather hadn't been so terrible. Despite the pouring rain and the COVID-19 restrictions, we were able to see almost all animals. The animals had a lot of space and none of the animals we saw were alone. Many were playful and seemed happy, especially the elephants and polar bears. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Some reviews mention bears and wolves in a single confinement, but they were separated by fences when we visited and didn't seem to mind each other. See more..

-SMALL VAN GOGH CHAPEL HE USED TO PAINT
Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
This is the famous little chapel that features in some of Van Gogh's paintings where his father used to be a preacher. The bells still chime on the hour as they did while I was there. Unfortunately it wasn't open while I visited and I'm not sure if it ever is. See more..

Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 12:00 AM 4WD, ATV & Off-Road Tours • Adrenaline & Extreme Tours • Climbing Tours
Friends got hold of a cheap ticket for 10 people for paintball and we were invited. They created a nice warzone where you have your battle. So far the good news. First thing you have to sign is a waiver, ok no problem, and they offer you insurance for 1 euro. Most likely not needed, but what the ***, only 1 euro. Next they advice you to get a safety pack for 5 euro. Safety first, so ok. Then they tell you you only have one load of bullets, that will last about 10-15 minutes. An extra load is 20 euros, however they also offer alternatives, also standard gun is small, limited reach, so you will be a sitting duck if you do not take the big gun, so we ended up with an extreme package, with unlimited bullets, something we found you really need, you run out of bullets fast. Guns are good, but other equipment old and worn out. So we ended up paying 60 euro extra per person, excluding drinks!!! This is what I call a scam! See more..
