Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Zwartendijksterschans image
6. 4.5 Margarethakerk (3 reviews)
    - Old church in very old village
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
Evidence of settlement in the Norg area dates from 650 to 750 BC. The Margaretha church is 13th century which is old even by Dutch standards. At the time churches were built in Romanesque style with short semi-circular arches and rather dim interiors. The church is dedicated to Saint Margareth according to medieval legend a 15 year-old girl rebel who gave her life to defend her Christian faith. In the period May to October the church is open to visitors from 14:30 to 16:30 except on Sundays. See more..

    - Shockingly different Sheep cheese
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Kaaslust image
Kaaslust is a cheese factory and shop right next to the Maallust microbrewery on the former Veenhuizen prison colony. They sell and unbelievably intense, hard, old Sheep cheese which is unlike any other cheese you ever tasted. Fantastic with a glass of port or Zware Jongen tripel beer from Maallust! See more..
  10. 4.0 Speelgoedmuseum Kinderwereld (Toy Museum Children's World) (19 reviews)
    - The toys from my youth
    Speciality Museums
Speelgoedmuseum Kinderwereld (Toy Museum Children's World) image
This toy museum is for children and adults as well. Children can marvel at the toys from the past and have also opportunity for playing as well. As adult I was delighted to revisit the memories from my youth with the Meccano sets, Dinky Toys and Matchbox car miniatures and of course the miniature steam engines. (Maybe that's why I have studied for B.Eng) This museum is spread over three floors (with elevator service) and beside the toys mentioned, also a massive collection of dolls and dolls houses can be admired. Not a museum to make a trip to Roden for, but a very interesting spot when staying in the vicinity. The Dutch annual museum pass is valid here. See more..

The museum shows how they lived; personnel downstairs as was usual in past centuries. The present form and shape of the manor dates from 1728. Entrance fee 6€ See more..
  12. 4.0 Hunebed D1 (6 reviews)
    - Good example of a hunebed
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Hunebed D1 image
This is one of the best and most northern of hunebedden and a very handsome one too. It doesn't have any kerbing stones but the chamber is almost complete with uprights and capstones. One of the larger examples in the range of 5,000 year old Dutch passage graves. See more..

  14. 4.0 Molenduinbad Norg (1 review)
    - Fijn zwembad, niet al te druk
Spent 1-2 hours Sports Complexes • Water Parks
See more..
  15. 4.0 Oecumenische Dorpskerk Peize (1 review)
    - People of different beliefs together
Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
This 13th century Peize church with a tower built in 1803 in the center of the village is still in use by people of different beliefs. It is a ecumenical church. Perhaps a good example of Dutch people, who are leaving a long period of religious division and strife behind them. Cycled here from Assen railway station which is just 20 km away, but to hike 10 km to Peize from the city of Groningen through the Onlanden nature reserve is an option as well. See more..
