   I really enjoyed Loetbos. Came twice just to take a walk by the water, watch the ducks with their ducklings, and the Willows over the water. My kind of place. See more..

   One can see the church of saint John in Lekkerkerk from far away. Most of the structure except the tower dates from 1615 when the older church - devastated by war- was rebuilt. The tower is relatively new (from 1780), the beautiful wooden upper part is from 1830. The church still serves the Protestant community in its vicinity. Note that due to the soft soil on which it was built, the church floor had to be elevated numerous times. See more..

   In een eendenkooi oefent de kooiker zijn eeuwenoude beroep uit. Er zijn nog veel eendenkooien in Nederland, maar daarbuiten niet of nauwelijks
   Met behulp van voer, tamme eenden en het kooikers hondje lokt de kooiker wilde eenden in de val, ofwel zijn kooi. Hijzelf blijft dankzij nauwkeurig opgestelde riet-schermen onzichtbaar.
   Bakkerswaal is gesitueerd rondom een als gevolg van een dijkdoorbraak ontstaan wiel. De pachtende kooiker plantte hier ook wilgen om wilgentenen te kunnen oogsten als bijverdienste. Ook werden wel populieren geplant; hier werden klompen van gemaakt. Door de eeuwen heen is rondom de eendenkooi een specifieke natuur ontstaan. Hierdoor en vanwege het ambacht dat hier wordt uitgevoerd is dit een spannende plek om te bezoeken. See more..
