   Singer Laren is a unique cultural heritage with an American cultural heritage in private ownership. It consists of a beautiful boutique museum, theater, historical villa and a Piet Oudolf sculpture garden. Museum Singer Laren has a surprising and diverse collection of international visual art from the period 1880 to 1950. This ‘classic modern’ collection has given the museum the freedom to set up a wide exhibition policy. This collection was set up by the American couple Anna and William Singer, who received many friends in their villa in Laren. There were often artists among these friends. Anna and William themselves were also creatively talented. Anna played the piano and William painted. Together, they have collected an impressive art collection. Anna had the museum built after the death of her husband William. The Singer Laren sculpture garden designed by Piet Oudolf opened in June 2018.    The Westerheide is a heathland area on the territory of Hilversum and Laren. It's a piece of nature, located on the edge of Laren. It was almost nobody else walking in the area. We walked inside the fence where you can probably find grazers such as cattle, sheep or goats. But we didn't see them as it was a sunny beautiful day and quite warm. The heather is not yet in bloom so we want to come back in august when the area turns into purple. See more..

   The church building of 1521 is old but inside, the seats are modern. Probably only the carillon, the statue on the wall and the pulpit are old. Someone in the church told us about the date of the building. The dedication date of the church is accurately known, as it is stated on the beam in the triumphal arch, now directly above the pulpit. There it says: “Dies Lambertus 1521”.“Consecrated on Saint Lambert 1521” and also known who the builder was, Mr Lubbertus, a local builder. The summer concert agenda booklet is ready in the church.    The Basilica of Saint John the Baptist of St. John's Basilica is a catholic church in Laren. It is a big church for a small town. The main hall of the church was not open but we could visit he chapel and burned the candle. It is a beautiful church, btw. See more..

   This is a flour mill. The windmill is still in working, grinding the flour. The mill was closed because of the pandemic. There is a shop next to the windmill. The shop had already closed when we arrived but the kind owners did it open for us as we needed to buy a packet of flour. It's kind of a farm shop as you can find other stuff like eggs, pets food, corn, honey, jam and some others. Glad to find this windmill. See more..

    The "Wilde Zwanen" is a work of art at the entrance of the museum and theater Singer in Laren. The artwork is three aluminium full size swans. The swans are attached to a metal flagpole with a natural stone base. The pole is also use for the entrance sign to the museum. The sculpture group was made after the example of the dance group.
