   I spotted one review of "Santa Line", so, since we travel on Stenaline around Christmas time, I decided to add my own review here. Last December we travelled from Hoek van Holland in The Netherlands to Harwich in England. On the Stenaline ferries, and in the Stenaline terminal building at that time, there are signs saying "Santa Line". There is a board with a picture of Santa where you can stand behind and put your head through the head hole, for a memorable photo of your trip. There are many Christmas trees in the terminal and some on board too. They sell chocolates and sweets in the shop which are in Christmas packaging, although the shop prices are high, compared to UK Supermarket prices. On board the ferry it is very nice, modern and comfortable. It is a great pity that there are no special Christmas meals in the "Taste Restaurant". Always the same old bland menu and at really expensive prices for what you actually get.Having said that, we usually eat there as we are always so hungry after the couple of hours we sit waiting in the car ferry queue. The other choice of restaurant has much nicer food, but it is out of our price range. The cabins are nice and comfortable, except for the old lumpy pillows filled with bits of foam. I wish they would upgrade those pillows. The cabins are quite expensive, as is the cost of the overnight crossing. I really do like travelling on this car ferry, but wish the prices were slightly cheaper. However, it is definitely our preferred way of travelling to England, and I woulod recommend it.    The Maeslantkering is very much worthwhile to visit, it is a wonderful and impressive feat of engineering. The visitor centre is also nice to go to with some explanations about the construction and about general things like sea level rise.     Geen idee of ze deze boot altijd gebruiken, maar we konden op deze dag met prachtig weer allemaal buiten aan een tafeltje zitten op corona proof afstand.
    Uitgebreide rondvaart door de maasvlakte 1 en 2. Via de luidsprekers wordt een bandje in drie talen afgespeeld met informatie over alles wat je ziet.
    Veel enorme schepen, containers en kranen te zien.

    The museum is a bit small. It is one anti tank bunker. However it has some really nice artifacts. They have different uniforms, weapons and daily items used by the German soldiers. There is a short movie which gives a good summary of the place. We also did the tour and that is highly recommendable. The Germans made different kind of bunkers for all kind of purposes. With a walk through the dunes, all different types are shown and explained. In addition a second anti-tank bunker can then be accessed which is furnished in the way it was, when it was used.     This is a statue representing Jewish children who were part of a group of 10,000 that were allowed to leave German controlled parts of Europe at the end of the 1930s. Children from Berlin, Vienna, Danzig (now Gdansk), Prague all crossed the Northsea by boat from the Hook of Holland to Britain. At the time part of an important railway link with London, now just a metrostation. The statue is designed by Frank Meisler who himself as a child, was part of the transport. There are similar monuments in Liverpool, London, Berlin and Gdansk. I was a bit struck by the location of the sculpture at a large lawn. The children almost look like lost and very much by themselves. Nobody around to support. It must have been a shocking experience. However, they all survived the war. Most of their relatives who stayed behind were brutally murdered by the Nazis. See more..

Rondleiding absolute meerwaarde. Enorme kennis en geschiedenis boost binnen ca 2,5 uur. Verborgen parel. Absoluut een bezoek waardig. WOW.

    Een bijzonder, groots en stoer fort voor evenementen, bedrijfsuitjes, feesten en bruiloften met vrienden, familie of collega’s. Prachtig gelegen aan de Nieuwe Waterweg. Fort 1881, het voormalige Fort aan den Hoek van Holland, is in 1881 gebouwd om de ingang van de Nieuwe Waterweg en de haven van Rotterdam te verdedigen vanwege oorlogsdreigingen.     Voor Vaderdag ontbijt geregeld met twee andere gezinnen. Lekker eenvoudig ontbijtje maar prima (14,95). Daarna hebben we een potje boeren beachgolf gespeeld. Leuke begeleider en grappig spel maar de prijs van 25 euro per persoon voor dit golfen vond ik wat veel in relatie tot wat je ervoor krijgt. Een paar gaten in het zand graven en een parasol erbij zetten en daarvoor 100 euro per gezin vragen is mi wat makkelijk geld verdienen. Tip: serveer er nog een drankje bij en/of een ijsje voor de kids. Overigens snappen we dat het geld voor de (strand)horeca gewenst is nu alles zo lang is dicht geweest maar wel een overweging voor Beachline voor de toekomst. See more..
