   A visit to this museum completed a half day boat trip! Being quite a sizeable party, we were split into 3 groups. There were 3 main things to see, each had a different guide. Seeing how everything worked was brilliant and the guides were very good. Their English was good nd we could understand their explanations well. A great unexpected treat! See more..

   A recently opened outlet on the outskirts of Amsterdam, opposite Halfweg railway station (one stop away from Amsterdam Sloterdijk) but there is also a bus stop in front of the outlet. Within close reach of Haarlem and Schiphol AIrport too. This outlet is built on the former sugar factory site. Good location, there is plenty of parking and the Amsterdam style shops look fresh and friendly. There is a good choice and variety of shops. In addition to clothing brands (different prices ranges), there are also restaurants and other shops such as home furnishings, gift shops, etc. We enjoyed our visit and keen to make a return!    Gemenelandshuis Swanenburg (1645) was also called the Castle of Swanenburg. This building was the meeting hall to use for water management of the IJ ( river ) and the Haarlem Lake in 1645. And in 1863 it became a sugar factory until 1991. The facade is decorated with beautiful Heraldic shields of the Water Board members of Gemeenlandshuis Zwanenburg in 1646. It is now a Sugar City, a site with an event location and offices in Halfweg. See more..

   The town hall is a national monument but it's still in use as a service centre of Civil Affairs and the police station of Halfweg. It was not open so we could only take some pictures. See more..
