Churches & Cathedrals

Hundreds of churchgoers had to cross the river every Sunday to attend mass in Moordrecht. In winter during snow and wind, this was a true ordeal. Finally they got the go-ahead to build a small, but functional church on their side of the river. In 1658 Gouderak got its own place. The exterior of the gothic style church remained unchanged ever since. Following Dutch Reformed tradition the interior of the church has been kept sober (no distraction, focus on the word of God, not on images). See more..
