See more..

    - Amazing operating Dutch windmill
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks

We were taken here by relatives as part of a longer day of events. It's maybe 15 minutes out from Utrecht and on one of the driving routes from Amsterdam. The windmill was operating in fairly strong winds. It was amazing to see this centuries-old technology. In strong wind these turn out to develop tremendous power. The host spent nearly an hour showing us everything in both Dutch and English. It fascinated everyone in our group, ages 11 - 64. An unexpected big hit! Three notes: first it was windy (duh) but therefore pretty chilly, in August, so bring layers. Second, it's only open on Saturdays. Third, to get into the windmill itself you climb multiple ladders. 3. 4.0 Landgoed Oostbroek (10 reviews)
    - Short, beautiful walk
    Nature & Wildlife Areas

Say you find yourself at the Uithof science Park, next to Utrecht. EIther to visit a University or to park cheaply before entering the city. Why not take a little bit of time out of your day to visit a nice short walk? Located right next to the City's hospital, this walk features forests, grassland, water, marshes with a variety of wildlife. Think frogs, snakes, kingfishers and waterfowl. Most of the path is easily accessible. It also has a herb garden, farm animals and a classical orchard with beautiful big fruit trees. There is a small info centre too. All in all it is a great and easy way to get some fresh air and nice views close to the University and the Hospital. See more..
  4. 3.5 Van Boetzelaerpark (10 reviews)
    - Beautiful Big Trees
Spent 1-2 hours National Parks • Parks
    Van Boetzelaerpark image
It is a very green park. Van Boetzelaer park has everything a park supposed to have. Trees, flowers, a pond with fountain and ducks, also kids' playground. The most interesting are the big trees. One particular tree has so many branches. There is also a Celtic Cross "Bilts Hoogkruis". It is very nice place for walking. See more..
  5. 3.0 Landgoed Sandwijck (1 review)
