   Geweldig gevaren en voordat we gingen instructie gekregen. Geen benzine aan boord is met recht.een verademing. De sloepen zijn ruim en hebben voldoende actieradius. Er zit standaard een kussenset in. Anker en zwemtrap horen bij de standaard uitrusting. En geen gedoe met parkeren op openbaar terrein. Toiletten en gratis parkeerplaats voorhanden. Gewoon doen!!     Had a great day on the lake, boating with former colleagues. Watching planes go to and from Schiphol. The Westeinderplassen actually is the biggest body of inland water in the Netherlands.     A well laid out underground Art centre with a wide variety of artefacts to suit the taste of most people. I’m unable to upload those photos I wanted to show you. Sorry for that yet I think you will really enjoy visiting this centre. The tranquility of the centre is a welcome break from the noisy world, while you wander and enjoy this experience.     As part of our composite ticket from Floraholland we had a cruise on Westeinder Lake with Westeinder Rondvaart. The boat, capacity around 20, left from an obvious location in the harbour, with the captain a solidly friendly and informative character. The cruise was mostly among the tightly packed islets, each with its own economic or recreational activity. The story of how the lake evolved and is maintained was fascinating, and he was really good with questions, even our stupidest, "Is the water salt or fresh"?     Wij hebben een fluistersloep gehuurd bij HuurEenSloepje.nl en hebben heerlijk gevaren in een prachtige elektrische sloep. Daar hebben we 7 uur mee kunnen varen en ook nog eens met een redelijke snelheid. De Westeinderplassen zijn prachtig. Leuk was ook dat we gratis een eiland mochten gebruiken. Veel plezier gehad. Top!     In de wat vervallen winkelstraat Zijdstraat tref je op nummer 55 een aangename verrassing aan, de Doopsgezinde Kerk van Aalsmeer. Ook wel De Vermaning genoemd, welke naam doopsgezinden gebruiken voor zowel hun kerkgebouw als de preek. Aalsmeer telde midden 17e eeuw zo'n vijf verschillende doopsgezinde geloofsgemeenschappen. In 1866 verenigden zij zich onder de naam Verenigde Doopsgezinde Gemeenschap Aalsmeer. Het kerkcomplex aan de Zijdstraat omvat een kosterswoning, een kerkeraadskamer en een groot en hoog kerkgebouw onder een imposant zadeldak. De kerk heeft aan de Zijdstraat een mooie voorhof met plantsoen. Het gebouw werd in 1926 gebouwd naar ontwerp van de architect Jan Frederik (Frits) Staal (1879-1940). Hij is bekend als ontwerper van het gebouw "De Wolkenkrabber", een 12-laagse appartemententoren die in 1932 verrees aan het Victorieplein in Amsterdam. De Vermaning van Aalsmeer is gebouwd in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School, met stijlkenmerken van de daarop volgende zakelijk-expressionistische stijl. Erg mooie raam- en toegangspartijen aan de Zijdstaat, verrassende details zoals het poortje naar de fietsenstalling en de gebeeldhouwde steen aan de voorgevel. Ook aan de achtergevel mooie details.     This marina is great in itself. It has modern facilities, everything is neat and tidy and the staff are friendly. There’s also a nice restaurant. What’s not so great is the attitude of the harbor master, who simply doesn’t want to accommodate simple requests and has a tendency to quickly make things personal.
