- 5.0 Bilene Kite Center (35 reviews)
-A very nice kite trip to Mozambique
Surfing & Windsurfing
The spot is very beautiful with lot of space. It is ideal for beginners as well as for more experienced kiters. The team is very professional, helpful and nice. They will help you to organize everything from your arrival to Mozambique, to kite lessons, renting equipment as well as boats to reach other kitesurf spots. We highly recommend it! See more..
- 4.0 Bilene (84 reviews)
-Lovely beach close to Maputo
Bodies of Water • Beaches • Beach & Pool Clubs
Bilene is about a two hour drive from Maputo, and the closest place for a beach day-trip. The lagoon is excellent for swimming and the water clean. If you want to go to the sea you can get a speedboat on the shore of the lagoon to take you. We went to a resort called Palmeiras, the beach was clean and they have a restaurant and accommodation facilities. The restaurant serves basic meals, don't expect fine dining! It is a great day out and the road from Maputo and Xai Xai is passable. Just watch out for the traffic police on your way back, we got a 1,000MTN fine for speeding! See more..

We arrived at the gate and their internet was down so they wanted us to go back into Massingir to draw cash to pay for the campsite. In the end they allowed us in and we will pay when they are back on line. The campsite was cleanish and they brought us a dustbin. There must have been a fire recently as there are a lot of burnt tree stumps and pieces of dried logs lying all over the place. It is the dry season but the gardens have not been tended or watered and looking very sad. The ablutions have not been cleaned in ages and the floor is full of bird/bat poo. Really glad we have our own facilities in the truck but not sure how they can justify their charges of R900 (including park fees) for the night. We are the only people here, even the chalets are empty. Unless they put some effort into keeping their facilities clean, water and electricity at the campsite, I would not come back See more..
