   Uruk, also known as Warka or Warkah, was an ancient city of Sumer (and later of Babylonia) situated east of the present bed of the Euphrates River on the dried-up ancient channel of the Euphrates 30 km (19 mi) east of modern Samawah, Al-Muthannā, Iraq. To go there, you need an arrangement with a local guide to let you in to this archeology site with rich history that goes back to 5000 BC. There are several temples inside, the main one (Anu) Ziggurat that is still buried under the ground. So you can see the tip of it only. From here, after probable competition between two main temples, writing started in human history. In one of the ruins of a temples, you can still see glazed blue bricks. You need time around 2-3 hours with a local tour guide to explain everything for you as there are no signs on this site See more..
